Wood Strip Pump Housing

Post by gumpy »

I'm thinking of building a custom wood strip housing for the pump in my flatwater freestyle canoe. Anyone here have experience with this sort of project?

I'd advise hewing it from a single piece of elm and making a loop of leather flaps on a rope to raise the water with. That way you can be sure that by using totally traditional methods there's no risk of spoiling the sport of flat-water freestyle.
