I believe that feature was cut in the transition from the 300 to the green jacket. I remember hearing they had a reason for removing it, but I don't remember what it was, specifically.

Thanks for all the input.

I'm thinking the greenjacket. Found a special for the old model online and am contacting them to figure out what shipping costs to Ontario.

Yep! I looked into that first. Unfortunately I can't drive conveniently to any of the locations. I found one store that would ship, but the new jacket is 70$ more than the old model on clearance. If the shipping charges make it close to the same price I am planning on cancelling the order and buying it local.

Dave, you might want to try them on though. My Palm vest is a M/L, so I assumed an Astral Green would be the same sizing. But when I tried it on, the M/L prooved to be way to small for me. Lucky me, I found a good deal on a L/XL, old model (don't like the big front pocket on the new one).

The closure on the old Astral Green Jacket SUCKS. It does not close and open easily and does not reliably stay shut. All it takes is having a pair of sunglasses or digital camera fall out during a swim to more than make up for the cost difference. It you lose some other piece of critical rescue gear it could have a much higher price/consequence.

I like the new pocket as it does not bulge out too bad and I can fit what I need inside and also keep things organized inside. The zipper is a huge improvement. But I probably need to carry way more than the average paddler as I am most often instructing.
