Sorry to slightly hijack the thread, but I want to talk about carbon/aramid hybrid fabrics!

The picture on the sweet website of their hybrid fabric looks like the 'standard' type of north American hybrid material, a 2x2 twill with alternating carbon and aramid in both warp and weft.
The 'dogbone' pattern material in the cockpit rim is different, as it has more aramid in one direction than the other and vice versa with the carbon. I have only ever come across this material in the UK and Europe; it is much nicer to work with, and seems to be a bit more resilient.

If anyone knows what I am talking about, and knows where to get some of the 'European' style fabric (at a reasonable price!) I would love to know where!

Thanks
Gwyn

Gwyn, I thought Aircraft Spruce used to carry weaves other than Twill, but I don't see it on their website. Seems like when I worked on a race car design competition (Formula SAE) in college, we got catalogs that had that sort of thing. Any racers in your area that might have a line on different fabric suppliers?

Good Luck,

Shep, what cloth are you looking at on Aircraft Spruce's site? For most of the fabrics I see multiple weave options...
