Prijon welding and repair

Post by driftwood »

I have just come upon a prijon rocket of unknown age.

The boat has a 6 inch crack on the stern that was filled with spray foam, and by the looks of it unsuccessfully welded.

So here are my questions:

-how old is this thing?

-is it weldable or did the old weld fail because it was crosslink (don't know if they blow molded it ever but thats what the weld looks like, either that or they hit it with to much heat, i.e. open flame)

-what are some other options for fixing. It was free so anything goes.

Prijon makes really good plastic and it's totally weldable. I think you can even order (matching) plastic for repairs directly from the manufacturer that will fit in a hot glue gun:

Since it can be welded, I wouldn't fool with any other options.

you're welcome to use my welder if you like. i'm leaving town for the summer tomorrow, but i wasn't planning to take my welder w/ me. get in touch w/ me if you want to borrow it and we can figure out how to get it to you.
