West VA Rafting

Post by Brendan »

OK- I know this is not C boat related, but I am a C- boater so cut me some slack. I have been asked to arrange a raft trip on the lower New River for my son and some of his buddies and their Dads. An online search shows a multitude of raft companies. I have two questions:

1) Any recomendations for one company over another

2) What is the usual level of gratuity for said rubber bus guide?

Thanks
Brendan

The Rivermen and Songer both had class acts years ago. Can't really speak for them now. We used to give Gauley guides about $20 / passanger if no one died.

I would suggest either North American River Runners and request Dave Bassage as your guide or Class IV River Runners. Typically 10-20$ per rafter is good measure (if you liked him or her) and depending on what you ran.
