Necky Chronic

Post by joellight32 »

I am looking at setting up a necky chronic c1. Anyone ever do this? What do you think about the boat? Is it worth it or should I go for a different boat? It would be my first playboat c1.

Yup. I've been paddling a chronic C1 lately

I don't have a ton of experience with that generation of playboats, so I can't offer you fine-tuned comparisons. That said, the chronic is slow and has soft chines, so not much carve. But it loves bouncing around on the foam-pile.

Watch the Necky cockpit - it gets pretty narrow in the front.

I have long skinny legs, prefer at least a 5" saddle, and really have to wedge myself under the deck of my Switch. It's a fun playboat, but I won't run rivers in it, for reasons of both safety and comfort.

Not sure why, but the chronic / vibe / orbit fish cockpit seems a bit wider up front than the older boats switch / jive etc.
