Euro Armada 2008 - Where do we hold it?

Post by NZMatt »

Gudday y'all

European CBoat Armada 2008
------------------------------------------
22-25 May, 2008

We have 2 options this year. Please send me an email to let me know what
you think and which option you'd prefer, then I'll figure out what works
best, let you all know and make the arrangements.

Option 1: Simme, Saane and other Bernese rivers, using the Kanu Klub
Spiez hut (if <20people...I can't believe we've outgrown the hut!!!
Totally cool!) or based at a local campground. What we did last year,
but hopefully with some new rivers...if the water cooperates

Option 2: Start at the Bregenzer Ache festival on May 22, then move over
to the Vorderrhein area. We'd camp at a local campground, but we would
be able to use the course room of Mit Linx Lernen (thanks heaps for the
offer Joe & Karoline!) down by the river in Versam.

Hmmm....new country, new rivers...-
Still not enough c-boaters....

Hi Matt, Jo and all,
Both sound like great fun, so either plan will be good. The Sanne will be hard to beat as a river trip though....

Although a word of caution, timing may be an issue as various Vorhderrhien dams have a maintenance period some time early season...
I went early season this year with Sandie and as it was cold.
There was little snow melt but the dam releases gave great levels every day for the week....

We may also repeat the early season trip next year if any ones interested??? I have plenty pictures to show what the conditions were like...

I also agree, both plans sound nice. I don't vote because I'm not sure if my timing will allow us to be there...

Wetnobby,

please keep me updated about your Vorderrhein plans, maybe we'll find the time to join.

Cheers

Vorderrhein? Any time, if I can fit it in. Count me in, please!

For the Armada: I think in May there usually is still enough snow melt (if we get snow this winter...) to paddle even the upper stretches of the Vorderrhein, i.e. above Trun.
"A canoe trip?" he said. "There ain't nothing to go down there for."
"Because it's there," Lewis said.

Wouldn't it be cool if the Euro-Armada could be in Tennessee and the US-Armada in Switzerland...

I'm sure we could work out an exchange program - you'd be welcome to mine for a week. Just as Falk (Taniwha) about boat availability!

Yeah, no need to take own boats to Tennessee, it's like taking owls to Athens...

Eddy, if you plan to go, just post/ask in this forum and you can paddle a different boat every day as I did this March. Very helpful people over there...

And to all of you American cboaters: come to the European Armada and let us know. I'm sure boats wont be the problem, only your bodies ability to cope with 'real' beer!

Just to get this post into the upper reaches again.

The main Novemberpicture of the new 2008 Cboats Wall Calendar was taken on the Euro Armada 2007. Look here: (http://www.cafepress.com/cp/get_latest_ ... leed=False) and come over in May 2008 to join us.
