How lucky I am that my boyfriend is a paddler too.......so I can bring him along, in order that you guys can help me to convert him.he's a kayaker, and I still didn't make it to take him off the dark side of power. You'll do that?

@ jakke: Great. Thanks! Can you think of any other way to promote the armada in your parts of the wood?

@ insolence: Just bring him along, but leave his kayak at home. There are enough cboats for demoing at the armada, so he needs to use a canoe, if he wants to paddle. Then we will see how evolution works.
"A canoe trip?" he said. "There ain't nothing to go down there for."
"Because it's there," Lewis said.

Hiya Insolence
Thanks heaps for the Spanish translation. I confess not to being able to speak a word of Spanish, so I'll just have to trust you on it: :)

You know, I should pr obably also translate Falk's German translation into Swiss German (or try to...it'd be an amusing exercise atleast :) )

Does anyone know any Spanish boating sites I can post that on?

Thanks

Matt

Who will be there...?

Post by bushpaddler »

So,

as there are only a few hours left ;-), who's gonna be where, when?

We'll arrive on Wednesday evening and stay on the campsite Bregenzerach if there's any space left and follow the Armada the naxt days.
We travel in a red Fiat Ducato with an Esquif Blast and a Canoah America C2 on the roof.

I'll also be getting in sometime Wed evening to the bahnhof. It depends on how quickly I can escape work and on the traffic.

Green VW T4 bus with a Zoom, a Phantom and some other boats (not sure which yet) on the roof....

Lookin' forward to it!

Those glorious days of the third Euro-Armada are now over. I see this with a happy :D and with a sad face :( .

Happy especially that everything went so well, that the people were happy, that the meeting was very harmonic and peaceful and, despite some swims, without any accidents and injuries.

Happy that everyone seemed to had a good time. I myself definitely had it on the Bregenzer Ache and the Vorderrhein.

Happy to have met some new cboaters, and happy to have met old friends again.

Sad, that there is one year wait in front of me for the fourth Euro-Armada...

Last I like to thank everyone for coming and making this thing happen. We've made a good impression at the Bregi Festival and on the Vorderrhein and showed the paddling community that cboating is an option on whitewater.
Thanks to NZMatt for the main organisation, thanks to Karoline and Joe from http://www.mitlinxlernen.ch for the hospitality at Versam Station, thanks to the Team of "LinX Beizli" for the great food and service.
Thanks to Jaqueline and Philipp of http://www.patschifik.ch for the trailerload of Esquif demo boats.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all again.

Now I've got to sort through the 4 GB of pictures I took and upload them for everyone to see.

3rd Euro Cboat Armada 2008

22.05. - 25.05.08 - Bregenzer Ache (A) and Vorderrhein (CH)

Have you ever seen a Latvian couple run an Austrian rapid in a Canadian made canoe?
Image

Have you ever seen up to 20 open canoes crowd a Swiss train?
Image

Have you ever seen a yellow OC1 jump clear off a wave?
Image

Have you ever seen a bunch of open boaters having fun in a beautiful country setting...
Image

...or in a pristine river gorge?
Image

Have you ever explored and escaped a black hole in a C1?
Image

Have you ever seen an OC2 blasting through a wave, then disappearing completely?
Image

If not, then you've not been to the 3rd Euro Cboats Armada 2008. Make sure you come next year!
Image
Great company...

...great scenery...
Image

...great food!

Oh man, so sorry I couldn't make it! I don't know next years date, but it is already marked in my agenda ;-). If someone fixed one, I'll make it a definitive note, not a mental.

Looks you guys had a great deal of fun, and nice water to paddle!
