leaking airbags what glue to use?

Post by Lennart »

Hi
what do you use to repair airbags? I got two leaking bags.
1 blue voyageur bag
1 blue mobile adventure bag.

Budget is low and airbags are not easy to sell over here , so repair is I hope the easy option to keep me afloat. :)

Thank a lot

I use Aquaseal and/or Seamgrip. Seamgrip soaks into surface fabric of airbags very effectively, but Aquaseal is better for larger holes.

I think a patch works much better then just glue. Use Vynabond for the glue and a piece of an old air bag or other vinyl. Also look for Thermarest patch kit, they work great too. :P

I've used Aquaseal on small holes and wear spots with great success. I don't think I'd rely on it for big holes, significant rips or problems at the seams though.

Shoe goo x 2 ... spread it on thick, makes a good pliable patch.

i had to repair some air bags last summer. on the holes (pinholes), i used aqua seal with an air bag material patch. on the seam leaks i just used aqua seal. they all seem to be holding well.

Auquaseal or Seamgrip. As for the patch, any material will do. It doesn't have to be vinyl or airbag material. You could probably use burlap. The sealant does the work, and will make any material you choose airtight.

Leaky Air Bags

Post by fleckbass »

I had two that were leaking around the valve. I ran a bead of Vinabond around the valve and they are good to go!
I went raftin' once. I think it was in Ohio.
