saddle placement in OC 2

Post by dennisstream »

Any tips out there for tandem saddle placement in a WW OC-2 boat (Vertige X)?

Put the seats close together but not so close as to limit your ability to do a crossbow to onside sweep to aid in ejecting the bow paddler. I have found getting rid of dead weight helpfull in class 4 water . ie Gauley and Cheat. JIM

Buy a couple of little $5 levels.

Take the boat, saddles, etc, along with the levels and some masking tape and markers to some water.

Float the empty boat, find the level spot on each gunwale, tape on the levels.

Now get in and move you & your saddles around to find comfortable spacing that gives you the trim that you want.

If you have adjustable saddles and paddlers that are very different weights, it might be worth finding the trim for the different paddlers in different positions.

Obviously you can also measure off of other peoples' comparable ww tandems as guidance, but you may as well mark your own.

If your Vetige X didn't come with a third thwart, you might want to consider adding one.

Cheers, PY.
