Cboat Fire Sale

Post by aargh »

After 30 years of C1, the pain in my knees has me looking at different ways of getting down rivers.

I have the following:

A Dagger Cascade
A Dagger Atom
2 Vipers, one heavy layup, one light
1 Vajda raceboat, cut down from 4 meters to 3.5 (at least I think that's what the previous owner did). Race layup, super light. No leaks.
1 Dagger Zealot, purchased from Jon Lugbill about 20 years ago. Couple of leaks.

Cascade: Free
All others: $200 each.

Located in Blacksburg, VA.

I'm interested in the vipers (not sure which one) and possibly the Vajda. Do you have any pics? I'm in eastern VA and could get out to you this Sat/Sunday.

Bummer about your knees.

Might be interested in the Vadja or Zealot - looking forward to pictures.

Going oc1 or kayak now?

Thanks for asking. Maybe back to kayak (where I started), or OC. I think I'm going to buy a Shredder also.

Not sure if it's the knees or the back causing leg pain, but whatever it is, it's not much fun to paddle for more than an hour anymore. It all started on my last Grand Canyon trip.

I'm going to keep at least one C1 for park and play, however.

Here's some pics of the Zealot.

I think I remember Jon Lugbill saying they/he cut the Zealot to remove some rocker. This may be No. 1. Repairs on the cuts are pretty stout.

This is the Vajda: A beater but fun and doesn't leak. Very rigid and light.

Here's the Green Viper. Not sure how old, I've had it probably 15 years and it was old when I bought it. Light S-glass layup, cut down a bit I think. No leaks that I've noticed. It's got black gelcoat on the bottom, worn.

Bought this one just before I decided to pack it in. I've never paddled it or outfitted it. Not sure about layup, but it's quite heavy.

That's my old Vajda boat - model is a Nereus.

Hi,

Do you still have the Cascade? If so, what kind of shape is it in?

I know we're getting close to the End Times, but I was wondering if either of your Vipers were still available. Thanks.

Your red Zealot repairs behind the cockpit rim are definitely to remove some of the rocker. I bought I think Zealot number 2 or 3 out of the mold (mine was green) and it had the same cut right behind the cockpit. I purchased mine used from Bob Robison back in 1997 and Bob told me the cut was to remove some rocker. I believe they modified the mold after the first 3 or 4 boats. My Zealot was a race layup (Andy Bridge/Dagger), weighed about 21-22 lbs and I river ran and raced it for 20 years and never needed a patch. It was a solidly built boat. Hope your Zealot finds a new home!
