Equally would an Outrage X outfitted as a tandem work out? Here is a page of an article that was posted on-line awhile back with an Outrage X fitted out as a tandem. I thought it was pretty cool. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_ppwE4MuphYo/TZ3C1A08StI/AAAAAAAAABs/wWnWqSVfNmM/s576/tandem-outragex...

It is great to hear of new boats like the Option, the L'Edge, or others getting rave reviews from paddlers with a broad range of sizes, abilities and experience. That just shows that the designers of these boats are on the right path. Kudo's to them.

In my simplistic world (and maybe I am wrong), a canoe manufactured in a Canadian factory will leave the factory at a base price per canoe that is the same no matter where it goes to. (I realize that high volume purchasers may get a price break over a purchaser that buys in lots of 1 or 2.) Looking ...

Is that price difference a matter of US dollar vs canadian dollar? Jkaz Nope.. that's what makes it even harder to swallow.. the CND $ has been at close to parity with the USD $ since before the L'Edge was released.. right now the CDN $ is actually worth a couple cents more than the American dollar...

I once hear that the best way to trim the neck gaskets on your drysuit is to use a sharp razor blade and to get your buddy to do it for you while you have it on. :(

When I bought my Caption a few years ago, I set it up using daisy-chain anchor strips (Northwater) along the bottom of the boat. By strapping the saddles to the anchor strips, I obtained a system that could be used for either tandem paddling or solo paddling, just by moving the saddles. In the attac...

Maybe its a crappy photo, but from the looks of the top view shot, there appears to be a 'wow' in one of the gunwales. Maybe from a wrap?

Crown land fee??? I ve never paid to camp on crown land.... Who collects the fee? My understanding is that in Ontario, all non-Canadian campers must pay a daily fee for camping on Crown land. There also appears to be some provision for the fee being waived if you rent a tent from an outfitter. In A...

I'd be willing to wager that if you were able to actually poll every whitewater open boater on the planet and they answered honestly the law of averages would tell us that "most" ww-OC'ers would identify themselves class III paddlers. Craig, sounds like you just volunteered to set up a poll on this...

I used the Northwater straps (purchased from MEC) when I outfitted my Caption. Was a bit dissappointed in the quality when I got them (they also seemed thin to me). However, after three years use, they are still working fine.

Why always this talk about "grow the sport"? Exactly thats what I also don`t understand at all. I tend to be in general agreement with Larry and Fez who questioned “why is it so important to grow the sport”? Seems to me that there are a wide range of benefits/detriments associated with "growing the...

Quite often when we take our Caption on overnight or weekend trips, I will carry a 60L blue barrel in mid-boat between the two paddlers. Fits just perfect. I spotted this photo a while back on Song of the Paddle where a guy set up his Caption with 2 60L barrels. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.var...

There are many many great Canadian whitewater trips that would be loads of fun. Others might be a bit more than you bargained for. Check this Cascade River trip out.

I drive a 2003 F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.4L. It is a nice ride and will get you to the river and back, but you do need to plan your trip based on the locations of gas stations along the way. Mileage varies from about 9 mpg winter to 15 mpg summer (US gallons). Looking to downsize to something a little mo...

Re: A message from Louie

I always had a good laugh reading your posts Louie, and looked for the occasional jewel amongst your words. Here's another one. To my friends on Cboats .... Not long ago the main admin got on here and in what appeared to be a moment of self pity bemoaned the fact that this site wasn’t what it was or...
