On the September long weekend my LEdge was tied up overnight on the shore of the river just below a 15' high rocky cliff, just next to where we were camped. When I went to gear up the next morning, the rear Mohawk float bag was deflated with about a childs fist sized hole in the top of it and much o...

For the moment, I am totally satisfied with my 3, which include:

Evergreen Starburst - river tripping boat (slightly painful on flatwater)

MR Caption - tandem whitewater (have used for up to 4-day river tripping)

Esquif L'Edge - solo whitewater

Why not head out to western Alberta and paddle the North Saskatchewan River from Nordegg to Rocky Mountain House. This is about a 3-4 day float with quite a few rapids up to about CIII. There was a good trip report posted awhile back: http://ripplewake.ca/tr/nsr/index.htm Trip starts in the foothill...

There a lot of "west" out there. Can you be a bit more specific about where you are heading?

You really need to demo an Esquif L'Edge, its 9'2" and has a good amount of initial stability and lots of volume. There are guys your size paddling the L'Edge and loving it. A couple months ago I put 60# of weight in my boat and added me (185) just to get a feel for how the boat handles and was sur...

Just call a few freight companies to see if any of them can pick it up and ship it to you. At the price it is selling for, the shipping costs would be worthwhile.

That is an excellent price. If it was anywhere near here, I would go for it.

ice-breaker What I've found that works well as long as you have a steady hand is an electric carving knife (please don't tell Mrs. Smerda) and then I finish them up with the rasp and sandpaper. Take your time... patience is the key. thanks Craig. I will take my time and chip away at it until it fit...

Hi there Dave Do you paddle with Rocky? Is that your Jackson C-1 for sale on MEC? How do u like it? Yukon: I have traded emails with Rocky but we have not yet met. No, the Jackson C-1 is not mine. So far, I am strictly an OC paddler working my way down in boat size from a 16' tripping boat to a 13'...

Just picked up my new open L'Edge on Saturday (I would guess that this is probably the first or one of the first few here in Alberta). Awesome looking boat, and I cannot wait to get it on the water this weekend. Unfortunately, it seems that the bulkhead was sized for a very short person, and in orde...

Re: L edge Tweeking

... 1. Round off corners of saddle where it contacts hull bottom so that support edge is less pronounced giving hull plastic more area to flex. 2. Placing another small sheet of plastic under rear of saddle so 2 layers of plastic absorb impact at critical area. Edges of plastic piece are not suppor...

It would be useful if others who have experienced their own problems with cracked L'Edges could also post pictures of the damage. Based on the photo's that Torre posted of his broken L'Edge, it does not appear to me that this is simply damage resulting from hitting a rock. I am no expert at material...
