James, how long is your two-piece and does it get in your way when placed in the fly? I would much rather have a two-piece paddle than a three-peice. After a stupid mistake last year I am unwilling to go on a long trip without a spare in the boat and the paddle must fit the fly. Milkman, I've contac...

Choice of a break down paddle?

I'm looking for a 3 piece break down paddle for my spanishfly. I know that Aquabound makes a 3 piece, but are there any other choices out there? Opinions welcome.

Rocky Boater, I'm 185 and recently converted a 2007 4Fun. Bernie's right, it would be too big for you. Marc, I haven't had much time in the 4Fun and so I can't give you a report. I've only had it on flat water and most of that was just trying to get the trim adjusted. I'm not a play boater, but want...

Main Salmon in July. Neither of my kids be came canoe crazy like me. However, my daughter oars the support raft and I get to paddle 100 miles. Works for me. Wiggins, the Snake should be fun in September. Good weather and the crowds are greatly diminished. Oh, and Grand Canyon size water - it is dam ...

Dooley, I think you are right. A traditional looking canoe has more appeal to the general boating public. However, I don't know how far we can grow our sport. I'm not too worried about running out of river space in my area. Heck I haven't seen an OC or C1 in the last two years. When I first started ...

Mike and Marc,

Thanks for the info. The boat is cheap ($150), so I may pick it up. I figure I can't go wrong - if it doesn't work for a C1 I'll keep it as a kayak for someone else to use.

Cheers, Marc

Pyranha S8 225 as a Conversion?

Has anyone converted a Pyranha S8 225? I'm 6'4", 180 pounds with a 36" inseam and size 12 feet. I've got a line on a cheap one and was just wondering. I'm looking for something that carves well, will surf, attain reasonably well, spin and maybe do cartwheels. I'd have to learn to cartwheel, but lear...

Usually it is my own clutsy nature that is the greatest danger to life and limb. Out west, the USFS and BLM recommends that boaters wear their PFD when scouting or stopping for short periods of time. They say that most accidents happen at these times and PFDs provide some cushion if one were to fall...

I've used aquaseal for small holes in bags and even on rafts. I've even sealed a 6 inch seam rip on a vynel bag. Lasted a couple of years.

I am going to echo rnbeals and dafriend. I put together a system with 12 NiMh AA cells (14.4 volts, 2700mh from batteryspace) - Atwood V1250 system. Two sets of batteries (24) and a charger cost me about $45 delivered. I've had the system for the past two and a half years and still have the original...

Well, as a Fink owner I think I might need to weigh in. But before I do that, I'd like to ask Craig where he was hoping to go with this thread? Were you thinking of another labor of love? Back to the Fink. First, I have never seen an Atom, so I can't compare the two. To anyone who has seen it, the F...

Josh, I have been planning on making a set of full length stuffable floation bags with dry suit zipper entries and kayak floation for inflating the bags after they are stuffed with gear. My though is that I would use 14 oz vinyl coated polyester (dry bag material) for the outer bag. I plan on custom...

Chuck,

I've got a Finkenmeister C1 for sale. Comes with a new custom skirt and VW style thigh straps. I'll let it go for $450. However, I'm in Washington state.

Anybody else interested, let me know.
