Re: Baby Falls
I've never run baby falls, but here are some general guidelines for running drops... Please comment if anything I say is incorrect. If you want to: Stay dry, Keep speed, Land upright etc. Hit the drop with speed, plant your paddle past the lip, pull a hard boof stroke. Easiest done with a carve towa...

L'edge Lite or regular L'edge?
Weight for carrying isn't an issue. Just wondering if there are any differences in durability and how they paddle.
Thanks!

Training For Paddling & Common Paddling Injuries
Hey Cboats, This spring I really want to step up my paddling. To do that I am working really hard to get in solid shape as well as practice on flat water as much as possible. For over three months now I have been going to the gym 6 days a week and pool session on the 7th day. This got me thinking, d...

Re: New to solo
Here's that diagram. Took me forever to dig it up. I wish I could credit the source but I have no idea where it came from. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-LzqyqaDY5hU/UvEONEYWYPI/AAAAAAAABFI/gNjhh8XJAf0/w395-h553-no/Untitled.png I would also recommend reading thrill of the paddle, it is really we...

Re: New to solo
Not anywhere near you so I can't get on the water with you, but here is some advice. Last year was my second season, so I still remember what helped a lot. - A solo canoe will always handle better and feel more stable on edge. Basically you should be 'carving' between different features, piecing tog...

Re: Old Tent trailer
Scout around for an old tent trailer, considered to be valueless once the 'tent" rots. Should be free. Strip it down to the frame and axle. It will be light enough that you can lift it one side by yourself and will easily towable by a v6 or even a 4 cyl. The tongue to axle length will be long enoug...

Re: Boat hangs up while rolling...
Do you think I should run with softer bags? I understand that running "full" flotation can be a bit of a double-edged sword (not allowing the boat to fully swamp, but also potentially making it harder to roll given higher float while upside-down) but in an ideal world of running deep splashy rivers...

Re: Boat hangs up while rolling...
No problem! Good video. I've definitely had the same problem before when paddling a friends shortened l'edge. The exaggerated rocker seemed to have some effect. Your definitely right that it was confusing and disorienting to get hung up like that. I'm not entirely sure what I did, but it took a stro...

Re: Boat hangs up while rolling...
Use paddle strokes while underwater to adjust your body and boat to a good place for rolling. Reach where you want to be and draw/pry/skull the paddle to get yourself there. It will be useful later on for rolling in weird spots. For your situation, the easiest solution I think would be to lean back ...

Re: An Honest Salesman
The first boat that I owned (sequel) was later described to me as a boat that has all of the negatives of a prelude but none of the positives. I ended up liking the hull after while but it was a heck of a learning curve. I'm curious, though. What makes a Prelude one of the worst boats to learn in? W...

Re: Wet suit vs dry suit
Here's my progression of exposure protection. Hopefully it will help you figure out what will work best for you. My first year paddling I got about 10 days on the river and swam a bunch every time because I was terrible. 5 of those days were between 10C and 15C. Two of those days were between 5C and...

Website Suggestion
I was thinking... It would be cool if the boat museum and possibly the articles were hosted on some sort of wiki. That way users could easily add descriptions, pictures etc to entries that have missing information and stuff. I see that there is the option to create a new entry, but no way to edit or...
