Re: Specs/ questions for fixing old blue hole OCA/ Sunburst
If it's 14'6" its the Sunburst. The OCA is 15' 9", not the same thing at all. 8) It could even be the Sunburst II as both the Sun I and Sun II are the same length. Easiest way to know if its a Sun I or a Sun II would be to check the center depth of the hull. It the depth comes out around 14.5" its a...

Re: Open boating vs kayaking
Bwahaha!
That was awesome. In reality though, we know exactly what the dark-siders are saying when they bash open boats.
Dark-sider: 'I don't like open boats because blah, blah, blah.'
Translation: 'I'm a big sissy.'

Re: Boat of the Week - Dagger Cascade
Always loved the Cascade. I'd really tall, so folding myself into C-1's is a bit of a pain. For that reason, I usually run open boats, the big ol' Cascade is the only C-1 I've ever owned that I've been able to really rig up in a manner that was comfortable for me to paddle, so it has a place in my h...

Re: Designing my own boat, help please!
this has been really interesting. I like the idea of the wood strip/foam hybrid design. I wouldn't have thought of trying anything like that. I'm thinking that will be the way to go for the design I've mapped out. Those online videos and articles really helped me out a bunch, too. I think I can see ...

Re: Designing my own boat, help please!
Right! Thanks for all the tips, guys! I was hoping someone would say "Oh, its really easy, you just need to get _____"...but I figured that wasn't going to happen. I will post updates on here as I go through the process, knowing me, I'm going to make a lot of mistakes, and someone should get a chuck...

Re: Anyone else in Central Oregon?
I won't be in Central Oregon, but I'm an open boater planning to move back into far Nor-Cal shortly. Would be interested in meeting up to hit some rivers between the 2 of us from tie to time. What class rivers are you looking to run?

Designing my own boat, help please!
Ok, I am in the process of designing my own boat. Whitewater open canoe. I've been thinking about this for years, and a couple months ago I decided to do it. After a lot of swearing and cursing at myself for not paying close enough attention during my math classes back in high school, I have finishe...
