Re: Kayaker dislocated shoulder moving to oc1
Putting kayakers into playboats before they ever l-e-a-r-n to paddle or use a river-runner type boat to me is the dumbest thing ever... but "they" do it every day. They are pretty easy to spot on almost any river though... floating like a turd from one hole to the next, not using the current, waves...

Re: Olympics.....Dude.
Watching the C2... Florance and Hundslow just stomped the course with a time that could put them 2nd in the womens K1, and the only clean run... Pretty impressive paddling.
And the poles are real giving it some too!

Re: Paddle Grip
If you wanna use [road bike] bar tape, DSP Lizardskins would be the one i'd choose, and certainly not cork or synthetic cork... However, I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment... Interesting... My lower hand never grips the shaft tightly. Having the shaft "sticky" would drive me crazy. I went pa...

You probably tend to go years without paddling a real rapid either  'Better to say nothing and be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.' If you have something to contribute... then please do. If you don't have any thoughts or experiences on the issue at hand, then there's...

Re: Bioplastics anyone?
You jest, but something like an open canoe could be made from postformed plywood, which if done correctly would be increadibly tough for its weight... Getting so many tight radii in one product would be something of a challenge, but it's possible, with a little ingenuity.woro90 wrote:Or wood

I dunno if this will work, but... The BBC has all the events available to watch both live and recorded on I-player... I just dunno if they'll show it for non uk IP addresses.

I heard it will be available shortly after Ragnarok, as they're awaiting the death of Thor, as to aquire Mjolnir with which they can then forge the Phiend's in the fires of He.ll...

Re: Crucial tip for having a good roll
I hate footrests... So I just use thigh straps and bulkhead; I tend to go years between swims, so I think I can safely say that footrests aren't neccesary. So long as you're held into the boat firmly and have good connectivity, you'll roll up... How you achieve those two things, is very much up to y...

Re: Bioplastics anyone?
Back when I was working on electroluminescent polymers for OLED's we used to share an office with a group doing research in the biopolymer field (our two labs took up the rest of the fifth floor)... not all are bio-degradable (which is a plus for canoes) but none have the physical properties to matc...

This is conflicting for me, I'd love to see Dave win for team GB, not least because on the occasions i've met him he's come accros as a top bloke... but I'm also a big fan of Martikan and his unusually bullish paddling style, who if he performs like he usually does (rather than like his first run) w...

krittet.... we're talkin about CANOES here......dude - As for the prelude - not a boat one should recommend to a beginner- they will have a rough of it(more than they already will), develop bad habits, bad form, and slow progression, IMO IF beginners want to get into creeking - you get an Option - ...

Re: Quik Release/Skirt Pull Combo
Krikkit, just to clarify what is going on in that mass of green webbing: Both thigh straps are going to the snap shackle on their own loops and then the long bit runs from the release under your skirt and out? Yep, that was a temporary fix... Once I had time to re-assemble my sewing machine I stich...

Re: Custom outfitting
There's a certain irony that its about the run up to the olympic games, but Miss Fox won't be competing in C1 as the IOC and ICF have resisted including a C1W class or even making C1 a unisex class (as it was in domestic competition in the UK and presumably elsewhere until the late 2000's).
