Re: Devcon Plastic Weld
I have had some pretty disappointing results from the "miracle cure" Gflex repairs I have done. The small crack I prepped and filled held up well. The large "delam" patches have failed in precisely the way I expected them not to: brittle cracks straight through the G-flex material. These occurred af...

Re: Dagger Phantom Approximation?
The phantom and the ion are similar?? My guess is for casual river running they would perform quite similarly (sicknasty gnar not withstanding.) The Ion has a sharper chine, but less of it (length) and the general shape is like the midsection of a larger boat without the ends. There will clearly be...

Re: Dagger Phantom Approximation?
I have a Phantom in my basement which sees regular use. It is LIGHT (esp. with wood gunwales) has a nice stable, wide bottom, and rolls easily. It's lack of rocker makes it rough on the ends (the nose and stern were severely bashed in when purchased) in steep terrain. It rarely takes on water with a...

Best International Paddling Destination?
(other than MX/Costa Rica) Dream big. If you had a 2 week trip (summertime) to ________ location, where's the best place to find water, fun rest days, canoes to borrow or rent, people to show you around and get you shuttled, beautiful locales, etc. I'd have to take out of the equation places too far...

Mohawk canoes is a great place to order these from. Two rail lengths, with or without footpegs, shipping included, lightning fast delivery. http://www.mohawkcanoes.com/accessories.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I went for the "dowel" method of attaching them to my foam pedestal....

Octane 91 and Octane 92 Any Jackson boat can now be ordered with factory C-1 outfitting (is this true?) And theoretically, Robson has released the Homes in plastic (in Europe.) Same screamin' design but an inch or two smaller. Prelude and Span. Fly are older designs but still on the market in plasti...

Re: tandem rolling
I'd like to know if you figure that out. High brace doesn't seem to help much I think mastering the offside lowbrace and maybe even off-side half-roll might be the key. The bowman just has to help a little and have his weight in the right spot/going the right direction. Some of the Octane 92 footage...

Re: oc1 fitted for tandem rodeo ?s
I will try and put some photos up of the double-bulkhead, tripple-saddle, tandem Ocoee I built. I thought I was going to take it to Wilson Creek today, but we had a fickle crew. Good boat, wet if you're not driving it right, I need a few more runs in it with a skilled bowman to see what I really thi...
