OK, I found the Web site
http://www.confluencewatersports.com/index.htm As advocates for the sport of Whitewater Canoeing, I wonder if there is any chance this merger could result in production of some of the Dagger whitewater canoes. I know we face an uphill battle in this kayak-centric universe, but wouldn't it be cool if...

Bringing this back up to top...fate of Mad River Canoe Co.

OK, another question. Has anyone broken or cracked a Zephr?
I guess there will be no way to patch it if that happens...or is there?
I plan on hopping in one at NOC this weekend again. I need to find something more durable, the way I paddle my C-forum handle is very appropriate!

Questions regarding Zephr durability and Mad River's status
I need to get a new boat and am considering: A. Another MR Outrage or B. An Esquif Zephr Who on this board has a Zephyr they have paddled hard and run into rocks enough to really test the strength of the Twintex stuff? Also, is Mad River still in business? I sent them an email and have gotten no res...

Dang, I gots to get me some more boats!
Ya'll got me seriously beat, but you have also inspired me to increase my fleet!
1 Mad River Outrage
1 Savage Superfly
1 Cascade (I don't use the D word any more)
1 Blue Hole (Evergreen) OCA
1 Russian cataraft
0 kayaks. (You were asking about boats, not girl boats!)

I have to jump in here
If someone purchases a brand new boat, they should not have to worry about it breaking in two, nor should they have to fix it themselves with unsightly rivets or anything else. The manufacturer needs to get on top of this issue and resolve it.

All good choices. Re. what happened to OC1s, Dagger stopped
making them, the bastards. That leaves Esquif, Bell, Mohawk (although I have heard they are making no new ww boats) and a handful of composite manufacturers. We are always glad to have another brother join the few, the proud, the open boaters. Good luck. PS Caption is a great option for a big guy if...

Another question on ABS repair...what thickness is best?
I'm going to order a sheet of ABS or Kydex. Perhaps 1/8 inch is too thick? I guess it depends on where on the hull it is being used, but what thickness do you guys recommend for general Royalex repair?

Thank you all for your enthusiastic response to my question
It is reassuring that there are still other open boaters out there running hard whitewater and bashing up their boats! I will check into this Kydex stuff, and you have given me several good sources of ABS as well as a wealth of experience in applying it. Keep on openboatin! A skirt is a terrible thi...

Thanks!
I will consider both as possible replacement boats. The one at the pool is not outfitted so it should be fine.

Question about Royalex, exposure to weather and chemicals
I am looking at a couple of Outrages. One is brand new, dark purple, and has been sitting upside down on racks outdoors for probably 10 months at least. If I buy this boat, is there a risk of UV damage to the hull? It has never been paddled and has not a scratch. The other boat has been used, but no...

Thanks fellow open boaters
I used something called Devcon Marine Plastic Epoxy Putty and it seems to have worked great. Not sure how flexible it is, but mix it by kneeding it with your fingers and it can be applied to wet surfaces. I plan on keeping some in my dry bag for future emergency repairs.

Royalex repair question
I have a soft spot of delamination right under my knee-brace bulkhead in my MR Outrage. When I got off the Cheoah I noticed a small tear in the outer vinyl layer (I have no idea how it happened since I saw few rocks all day) I squirted a bunch of Gorilla Glue in there since it is water activated, th...
