Get your blade fully in the water. Stick it all the way in before beginning the power phase of the stroke. You do this some of the time but often you're making a lot of noise and splash. That's not efficient.

Like David said, get vertical.

Re: paddler's size limit?

This may have been covered already, but any word on how big a guy can be to paddle a l'Edge? 6'3'', 220? -DJ Craig was kind enough to let me take the prototype for a spin last summer at Wausau. I'm 6'0" and 215ish. Lots of freeboard left and no issues getting my post-middle-aged potbelly into the c...

Consider Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Reportedly rock-solid and fairly priced. The "Platinum Pro Pack" has more features than you'll ever use. If you want to spend big bucks Vegas Pro is the way to go.

Esquif Spark or Viper11
Probe 12 wouldn't be bad but expect a young, athletic person to soon grow out of it.

A sweet c-1 (makes/models already mentioned) would remain interesting for a good long while.

Right hand, left paddle

Can roll up on either side but have to change hands underwater to go right. Wish I could figure out the roll with a cross-over hand position. Might be too dam old and inflexible to for that.

And, wow, look at the that shield rock! The exciting thing about the rock on this run is that instead of getting smoothed out by the water it tends to shear off creating razor sharp edges. Things are made even more exciting by the orientation of these edges relative to the current. Sometimes the ed...

I've been exceedingly happy with my Kokatat Gore-Tex front entry suit (GFE). Nice thing about Kokatat is that you can send the suit in periodically and have it tested and patched for a very reasonable cost. It doesn't matter how many leaks they fix the cost is the same. The expensive part is shippin...

Re: Caption Tandem Set up Dimensions??

Whats the length? 56" 2-end of Bow cap to center of Bow Pedastal? 65.5" I took the "end" of the cap to mean the pointy side. There are 1" wide wooden thwarts behind t...

Perhaps a combination such as an armada steaming downstream bank-to-bank with everybody standing up? Preferably dressed like medieval Scottish warriors ala the movie Braveheart. Louie gets to play the Mel Gibson part.
