Ya, I was in Big Al's LBS canoe school. It was my first run, very cool, learned a lot. Thanks for getting us down Al.

Re: Canoe instruction... why do so few of us pay for it?
I think we should start using the term chundering, that really covers it for me.

Oh and a fellow I know named Mark got some free schooling on the LBS on Sunday. Oh ya and Big Al got chundered pretty good at First Island, again aparently

Re: Tandem River Trippers
You need to define what you mean by tripper. What do you want to do. A 13' boat is not a tandem tripper, 17'4" is a tandem tripper, in Canada anyway.

Its a low brace roll, so do it like you low brace. You know, HARD.
That's all I got. But like what has been said get you elbow out and go gunnel to gunnel with your head.

Re: behind the knee bulge
I had a problem with a bakers cyst that was relieved when I had a torn meniscus repaired(minor knee surgery). The cyst no longer occurs. See a doctor.

Re: open and closed designs...history?
My remarks to our correspondent were a very mild suggestion that he was incorrect in his generalization. If I had made similar generalizations about open boaters on this forum the invective would have been incredible.

Re: open and closed designs...history?
I started paddling canoes in 1973. I have never been a kayaker or a rafter. I do extended canoe trips in Canada. I do canoeing triathlons. Yet I paddle C1 when I paddle WW, imagine that.

Re: open and closed designs...history?
I paddle C1 because I can roll up in most conditions, and do not need to frequently empty my boat(I do not need electric pumps). And, I have been doing it for years, so its what I do. However, I paddled an Option once and I absolutely loved it. Open boating is very cool, you get a great ride. Rand T...

I was somewhat remiss in not mentioning that Big Al was the hub upon which this whole wheel turned. Thanks Big AL

Re: 2013 CBoats Armada - Cheat Narrows / Canyon / Etc...
We were a few boats short of an Armada this year down on the Cheat. There we 8 of us total, one was a kayaker, so we were 12% kayakers. That aside it was a great day . Temps were in the 60s if a bit breezy. Rising gauge on the Cheat that topped out at 2.4', so good water. There were boaters from Can...
