I've started using G-flex for all anchors and attaching anything that will have to hold well for both Royalex and Plastic. The stuff is bomber. Put away your weldwood and Vynabond and just use gflex. I've even applied gflex in a hurry to a wet boat and it still held great (not recommended). Gflex, g...

this isn't the full story but ... Frankie Hubbard designed the Prelude, which was molded by Pyranha across the pond. Pyranha made a fair amount of preludes and sold them in the States and in Europe. Some of those Pyranha Preludes still survive today. Esquif acquired the mold from Pyranha and now mak...

Hey Boathead, I'll PM you off line and we'll talk. For those who haven't seen the video of the Blackfly Ion on the Big Sandy, with Jeremy and I, check it out here: http://www.blackflycanoes.com/index.php Anyone headed from the East to MI? I will be in New Hampshire and could potentially bring the bo...

Hi Boathead, thanks for your questions. Regarding purchasing, yes Jeremy/Blackfly Canoes takes orders directly for his boats. I am lucky to see Jeremy often so picking up the boat was not an issue. I know he has shipped a few boats, so hopefully some of those folks can weigh in. He is very willing t...

RE: Ion on the Kennebec at 8,000 cfs - There are more eddies than you would think, some of them much better than others. It was surprising how dry Wayne and I were able to run and we caught 3-4 eddies anyway before we even got to big mama. From big mama down to the the Magic was pretty continuous, b...

I'm not trying to be a nah-sayer, but they already do a big race and paddling event on the Susquehanna every year, called the Great River Adventure. I know they do a family friendly island hopping trip and a downriver speed race, that attracts many hundreds of paddlers and families. It might make mo...

Lancaster is smack dam in the middle of the Pennsylvania and puts you 4 hours from the Lower Yough, which runs everyday all summer, about 4 hours from the Upper Yough in MD, which releases most Fridays, Saturday and Mondays and about 2 hours from the Lehigh (my home run - class II+) which releases a...

There is footage of the Cribworks run, I'll post a link when my buddy uploads it. The Seboomook photo is from like the third to last rapid on the section. Its a line right along river right. Below the rapid where the photo is taken is one ledge rapid with a few holes, then below that rapid is the Se...
