Re: C1 to OC1 or not
. . . I would like to hear of other's experiences on avoiding or making a transition from one style of paddling to another. . . Maybe it's the outfitting, not the boat, which should govern your choice. I've been an open boater for all of my adult life, but 10 - 15 years ago, I took a serious crack ...

Re: Update on Mohawk
Grateful for the update, Richard!
A quick question: With T-Formex now becoming available, will you be planning to resurrect the production of canoes?
Thanks

Re: Tandem communication
Excellent video . . . I agree -- thanks for sharing this! Good points, on the partnership of tandem boaters, Mark and Bill. It's an issue that I'm sure all tandem teams, even ad-hoc 'today-only' teams have to deal with. I've thought of it this way -- The broad goals are defined in discussion; the s...

Re: Looking for Pyranha Spanish fly or Big dog Force
. . . looking for a Spanish fly or Force OC1. . . Hey shwifty -- I have a Force I'd let go. I like the boat, but already have a Sp'Fly and an Aftershock, so the Force is redundant. The outfitting has been completely gutted -- the factory plastic saddle, and the extra plastic beer-can holders are go...

Re: Esquif Extasy! New model!
we're working hard to make a small number available in the states soon! Sabrina, please forgive my hint of sarcasm (and frustration) in my first post. We're all excited about the Extasy, and grateful to you for your part in its design and production. The concern I'm expressing, and the question I'm...

Golly -- not in Canada? I had this weird notion that Esquif was a Canadian company!insolence wrote: . . . we're working hard to make a small number available in the states soon!

Re: More Canoes hitting North America
. . . Just getting the word out there that we have another container of Silverbirch Canoes coming within the next month. . . Exciting news! In an earlier post (Apr. 25) you said, ". . .we don't have a rep out west, but I know there are a few Coverts floating around out there. Working on that. . ." ...

Re: Dagger Caper vs. Encore
Interesting discussion! At 14', and well-rockered, my Caption is a great tandem playboat. I've paddled it solo, under various circumstances, but don't really consider it a solo boat. The Encore, at 13', is designed as a solo boat. I'm wondering if anyone has converted one to tandem, and if so, would...

Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017
. . . Is there a specific campground? The campground is Loup Loup, east of Twisp: https://www.recreation.gov/recreationalAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&facilityId=242239" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's a lovely site, and it's at a higher elevation than the river. Following a h...

Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017
Do you know where it will be. . . should we plan on camping? . . . Wendy, the Event will be held in N. Central Washington, on the Methow River, plus other local streams. Get onto a map of WA, and draw a straight line between Spokane and Bellingham, then look roughly half way between, for the tiny c...

Re: Reuse, recycle. . .
Thanks for the reply, Pat. Yep, I've seen Don & Son in the Viper -- they looked great in it! Recently, we've had a minor renaissance of tandem boating hereabouts, Problem with teaching Intro to Tandem Moving Water in big tripping boats is that students don't get to experience the fun of a more playa...

With the current trend to small, PE solo boats, even for tandem use, we're seeing larger, old-school solo boats hitting the f/s market. Now, we're seeing tandem boats (Octane 92, Covert) in use, smaller than old-school solo boats. Personally, I converted an old 14' Piranha to tandem. Not a bad boat!...
