Yes purposely avoiding learning things is a major pitfall.

No misunderstanding...to each his own way.

i do have difficulty understanding why people feel the need to categorize switching a something not to do.

Sorry ian I believe that might be rationalizing. U'd still be placing a paddle blade on the opposite side of the boat, regardless of how you are holding it. I'm sure we can both paddle pretty well on one side ian, but heres the comp. lets do an entire river run paddlin say on the right. Then lets do...

Brewbeer...I say if yer comfortable switchin keep doin it. Wait to limit yerself to cross strokes until u attain the "god"like status of decked cboater :wink:

Absolutely agree on the importance of offside power. I just disagree wid the way most choose to put it down. Cross strokes are useful, but why limit yerselves an never switch?

Any tandem crews plannin on bustin out Sunday too? I just realize Sat 23 is UY race an I will not miss the ability to hang out til dark on the UY.

You could grab up a used coleman to do the kind of trips u describe. U starting from square one...it will get u out on the water quickly and having experiences.
