Re: project slalom boats
The Maverick is the only slalom boat other than my Zealot that I've ever paddled. Mine is the #1 original high rocker Zealot, so it excels where the Maverick fails. But I could feel the hull speed of the Maverick as soon as I tried it.

Re: Zealot spray skirt
Where are you?
I got mine from Rapidstyle but I don't think Dana Chladek is dealing anymore.
I would call the Hearns at Maximumwhitewaterperformance. (See cboats links.)
It seems like a just slightly larger than average cockpit.

Re: AC/DC review
Work on my old Wide Ride is excellent. And my Edsel is fine except where Connolly's mold was leaky. If your boats were pristine, they would cost twice as much. GITTEERDONE! Most boat buyers have a funny attitude, wanting a polished hull like on a Liquid Logic and then taking it out and banging and s...

AC/DC review
This is a review from "across the pond" by a buy who took a chance that an AC/DC could be his all around canoe. "Finally I received my ACDC three weeks ago. We ordered two and got them shipped over here by a german company. Had not so much time, so our first paddling in it was last Saturday on a nar...

Re: Gorilla glue use?
To replace your pedestal and bulkhead, first glue the gorilla to the bottom of the boat. Board, and yield to his embrace. You paddle, he keeps you centered.

Re: Fiberglass thigh strap loops
I would never use anything but high quality epoxy for such a job. G-flex is great, but may not wet out some cloths readily. Polyester resin is easy to get, but is junk. I've used vinylester for patching with great results, but it has no advantage over epoxy whatsoever. Maybe some thought should go i...

Re: Wood T-grip repair/maintenance and opinions for best pad
I use slippery elm (which isn't), when I can get it. Multiple coats of Minwax 209 clear. But like Peter, I sometimes use Helmsman for the "body" of the handle.
Maybe I'll repost some pictures of grips. I have a new one of dogwood.

As an old slalom race boat inspector, I'm sceptical, but we'll see.

Tha's right, it's a dynamic inteaction. A Piece of Plywood is stable, until you practice edging.

Re: Tippecanoe
A good symmetrical design like the Magnet is a wonderful thing. Whether trim deviations are deliberate through dynamic leans, or inadvertent through seat placement, the boat tolerates it much better. A swedeform is much fussier. A swedeform tends to be faster, but my experience with my own boats ind...

Interesting, it felt much "flatter" underneath than my old Phoenix C-1.

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max
Isn't it kinda interesting that Davey Hearn designed the Gyromax the way he did, and then Jon Lugbill turned out the Cascade for Dagger? I only paddled each one once. The Cascade was close to fishorm. The Gyramax needed more rocker, just behind the cockpit. (Same for my Phoenix Seewun, sort of simil...

Re: Boat of the Week - Perception Gyra Max
Most evenings at NOC, some cook would emerge from the kitchen, board his yellow Gyramax, and run off a million or two front and back enders at the Falls.
It was almost as much fun as watching Dick Wooten side surf his OCA, sans float bags as usual.

Re: Seat Height and Stability
Yes, a c-1 can force the lower legs into parallel orientation because of low hull width. This may be more true if the hull is not just narrow, but "tubular". A wider, flatter hull bottom allows more range of leg disposition. Yet in fact, c-1s, with their low seating position and their multiple point...
