Just measured the saddle on my Finkenmeister and it's 9.5 inches. Haven't had it on the river yet, so it may have to be lowered. Don't know the height of the Finkenmeister I demoed, but it was surprisingly stable. I didn't flip on several miles of Class 2+. It also seemed pretty fast and pretty mane...

I used to run the SFA pretty regularly but I've been busy lately taking classes so I can make more money and support my boater-trash lifestyle. Often I would be the only canoeist on the river. People don't really like the canoe in California. I often get people encouraging me to walk Class 3 rapids....

GTX for big person
I am thinking of buying a GTX to convert, but I am wondering if it would work OK for a big... er, I mean husky guy. I weigh about 240 lbs, am 6 foot 2. I have Dagger outfitting, was thinking of using that. I think the performance would be good, fast, quick turning, it has a lot of volume, 76 gallons...

GTX
How did that boat work out for you? How stable is it? I am thinking of buying as a Class 4 river runner. I weigh 240 pounds, am six-foot-two. Stability is my main concern. I figure the boat's performance otherwise is pretty good.

skill level question
Maybe canoeing is harder than kayaking. But I have seen some C-1s playing harder than the kayakers. I have also noticed kayakers just floating down the river, without catching any eddies, not doing much of anything. So while the difficulty of the boat may be difficult to change ( I finished out my f...

dry suit FS
I sure do have the dry suit for sale. It's in good condition, has new gaskets, no tears or rips. One small hole from a pricker bush that I easily patched. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is I discovered I am too big for it. I'm six-foot-two, 240 pounds. I live in Grass Valley, Calif. If you wa...

So how do you go about converting the boat? This is all a mystery to me. Do you use a Dagger pedestal and thigh straps, or do something else. I still havent figured out how to outfit my Cascade to hold me in when I turn upside down. Maybe that would be step 1. What is this arcane science called conv...

Stohlquist basic dry suit, mens XL, height range 5'7" to 6'2" (so they claim, actually not good for taller people) purple, nonbreathable fabric, new gaskets. Same suit that Walker Texas Ranger wore on the whitewater rafting episode. Be styling like Walker Texas Ranger for the low, low price of only ...

Savage Skeeter
I am thinking of buying a Savage Skeeter. I weigh 250 pounds, am six-foot-two, and generally run Class 3-4 rivers out west. Any thoughts on this boat. I paddle a Viper 12 right now.
