Uh, I hope it's just a typo... Fridays' races in July & Sat-Sunday races in August? That's alot of driving... :-?

Also, according to the form, there's no specified mens' classes... does that mean that Caroline Peterson can race Open with the men? :o

That could sting a little...

Charlotte WW park & Nat'ls rumors

I don't wanna say what I've heard, because rumors are ugly.

Does anyone have any beta on the state of the Committee, opinions of the Committee, or the WW park itself at this time?

Re: Best way to ship a paddle

I've shipped boats, but never just a paddle. UPS wants $60 to ship from Minneapolis to Birmingham, AL !!! I've shipped a boat for less than that! No, I still have it.

Only paddled one time on flat water since I listed it. I'm bringing it to the Locust Fork WW Classic race here in Alabama for another guy to look at.

PM me your email & I'll shoot you some pictures, if you are interested.

Re: My bad

I think they should rename the "Styrofoam Cup" to the "Dixie Cup". After all, it is held in the Dixie Division of the ACA. And down here we refer to styrofoam cups as dixie cups. The natives of the deep south who remember getting a coke in a dixie cup (generic name for any styrofoam cup) at the dru...

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I guess I'm confused about this The X class was originally inserted to allow for innovation outside of the defined rules. What, then, are the boat qualifications for OC-1 Race Open? There is a Race Open class, aside of 13 & 15... isn't there? I guess it seems it woul...

Re: OC-1 Classes at Southeasterns

Dooley, Last year there were OC-1 classes in the SE races on the Nanty. I worked safety with some other GCA and AWC folks. I saw Psycho, Phil Foti and others compete in OC-1. Can't imagine a SE race without OC-1 classes. Michael The race last year was the "Styrofoam Cup" http://georgiacanoe.org/sty...

OC-1 slalom rule goofiness...

I'm assuming OPEN RACE class is just that... any age, boat, material, manufacturer, etc... whatever you want to run, as long as it qualifies as a canoe/open boat. Isn't this basically what is also stated as a description for the X-class? OC-1 X class has a note stating that if a boat qualifies for a...

As already said, try as many boats as you can. As already said, paddling style is a factor. I've paddled a couple of Kaz boats & own a Hooter. I really like the boats, but I learned to paddle in Frankie boats. I am definitely FASTER in the Edge, and I weigh ~220#. BTW, Phil Foti/Rodney Morgan are no...

I guess since I missed the thread originally, I'll comment now! :) I think it depends upon the boating. Racing or playboating, they don't seem as necessary as they do on a creek or unfamiliar stretch of river that you may be toting your boat on. If I'm in a rec boat, I have 'em... bow & stern. EXTRE...

I guess the trouble I'm having is the lack of separation of classes. Take a quantum leap with me here: Let's say you are a fairly resourceful guy. You could make a boat 11' 11 1/2" to race short, and the exact same design in a 12' 1/2" boat... to race long. The bonafide differences in the boats' per...
