Re: Reaching Canoeing Nirvana
one can never know it all, because this an ever-changing and evolving sport. Just try to know what is important to your discipline ; creeking, slalom, DR racing, freestyle (I've seen Eddy McG's video and He is good at it)

Re: How much rocker should a WW canoe have for class 2 - eas
An older used Dagger Dimension would fit the bill for what you want to run, but I share Smerda's concern about not being able to kneel for very long. I have seen downriver canoes outfitted for running easy ww (2- 2+) from sitting position but for 3 and up you are better off with the lower center of ...

Re: How much rocker should a WW canoe have for class 2 - eas
Rocker allows the canoe to turn more easily and also ride drier over waves, but does so at the expense of tracking ability(how easily it keeps a straight line thru the water) So you can answer for yourself by figuring out what you want to do most with that canoe

Re: remember that canoe?
Love that post! from a canoeist that has fixed 17 holes in my own Hooter. They were all small and easy to fix. I had another for a while but my wife didn't like the idea of me going out to the garage to mess around with the Hooters

Re: Did the L'Edge kill the Detonator?
My Detonator is only slow in flat water. I have not needed to weld it either :0 I think it is a fine river running canoe, especially for small technical streams

This type of discussion could go on for a while; I'll check back in a month or so to see how it's going

Re: How much of you teach canoeing
I teach a little when people twist my arm (or just ask). I do it to get more people into the sport. I am not ACA certified but I did take a couple instructor workshops. A lot of how to "by the book". I'll second the recommendation for Eli the canoe guru. I wish he was in our area!

Re: Ever thought about building a whitewater SUP?
A friend of mine built his own stand up canoe and ordered 6' Iliad paddles back in the day, and has been paddling it or its replacement for more than 25 yrs. He had bad knees from ice skating but didn't want to go to the dark side. He got pretty good in it and was doing cl4+ regularly. He doesn't ge...

Re: dry pants
Try to stay away from bibs, they can fill up with water in a swim and that can be BAD NEWS. I used pants and a dry top for a few years. The pants (NRS) can leak a little in a swim but not too bad. Definitely a lot cheaper than a drysuit and reasonably comfortable

Re: straps vs bulkhead
I could not get a real good fit with the Option saddle/bulkhead without carving away some foam from the knee area, and along the inner thigh area. I can still swim out of it fine, just ask Jeremy, he saw me do it on sunday:) My boats have always had straps, but I feel more secure in the boat with a b...
