Re: Mosquito Burrito - A canoe for kids!
I hope it happens - it would be awesome to have a 30 lb kids canoe (though for some kids that weighs 1/2 what they do;) ). Hopefully the price point works better than the Composite Creations Splash (which is an awesome boat IMhO). Other's have done composite designs before too... Massive? Millbrook ...

Re: Boat Width/Stability vs Height
Yes, and there is more of a difference in an open boat, particularly a high-sided open boat. Stability will be based on seat height and boat design (same boat or very similar hull design with a lower seat will be more stable). If you are short of torso and arm you should focus more on the width at t...

Re: "Where We Canoe" Episode 1
Looks like a lot of fun! The Hudson and Sac are a lot of fun, but the Winni looks more interesting and lots of choices of different routes to mix it up. Kudos to you for taking the time and effort to make a video and share it!

Re: Boat Width/Stability vs Height
Depending on your budget you might want to check out the "Echoee" as well. I'd recommend a smaller, or lighter (or both) boat in general given your weight, but it will depend on what type of water you like to paddle as well.

Re: C-boat for 120 lb 11 year old to learn - which to pick
Cut down Fanatic sounds like the best choice.
A nice waterline without too much rocker (to help going straight and not be too frustrated), light weight, and fairly easy to roll.
Storm Chaser would be my second choice; perhaps put him in both and see which he appears more confident in?

Re: looking for a new boat
Where are you located? I have both here in Queensbury, NY and you (or anyone else) are welcome to swing by and try them out (I'm right on the Hudson, albeit a flatwater stretch). Hornet is a "sporter" Cascade, and yes, a bit less stable. Wide Ride might be better. River Elf Storm Chaser might be ano...

Re: WTB: OC-2 for Class II-III whitewater, mild tripping
My parents have an AC/DC from the mid 80's (purchased from John Berry when he was in Riparius, as we are nearby). It has been raced in the Hudson River WW Derby quite a few times, and over the years has taken some pretty good hits. Though I wouldn't intentionally go crashing in to rocks I don't worr...

Re: Old Town Cascade - In search of
I don't have a Star Burst for sale, but be aware there are a few different "clones" on the market these days that are essentially mildly tweaked Star burst hulls. My personal favorite is the Echo Starlight, but then I like a composite boat (in this case out of some fairly durable materials).

Re: Gemini C2 - FREE
Agreed. I had a similar one (but green) years ago and it was an Apple Line. There is some basic outfitting still in the boat, but it will need to be gone over / fixed, and who knows what else. If I had more time I'd take it out and fix it all up, but too many other things going on right now to play ...

Re: Gemini C2 - FREE
Let's figure our how you can get it then! I'd like to think I'd be headed to WV / PA later this summer / early fall, but that doesn't look particularly realistic right now. I'll keep my ears open for anyone heading down that way. Alternatively we're finally getting some rain so there might be some p...

I'm surprised Strapworks didn't have what you need... they always seem to have far more than I knew existed when it comes to such things!

True enough (Ontario IS big). Unfortunately not close to your neck of the woods - Cornwall, SE of Ottawa.
Here are a few images I took this evening.
Might paddle OK, might need some patches. It's free, don't overthink it;)

Gemini C2 - FREE
A few years back some folks who know I have a collection of craft dropped off a Gemini; I already have 2 C2's, and decided this one needed to be rehomed. Other friends were interested, but now have more kids and no boat racks... so I'm tired of moving this thing around and ready to pass it on to som...
