Pilar and the Racecourse are the same run. You can see video from last weekend here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkNZF4bcarg The Racecourse is short if you don't play much whereas the LTB makes for a long day. Flows less than 1000 CFS are technical, between 1000 and 2000 CFS easiest, and above 20...

Curtis, The changes I made to Dagger's outfitting were: 1) Ankle blocks, my are notched (you'll need to try different heights and positions, too little and much gets uncomfortable) 2) Padding behind my back to keep me forward an inch. 3) Added pads to both the outside and inside which touch the side...

You can probably call and get a Friday/Saturday permit since flows aren't great but certainly doable. The pattern has been turn on at noon Friday and turn off at noon Sunday...

I understand the convenience of bulkheads for open boats, but you have to fiddle with a skirt anyway with a decked boat. The ability to escape a decked boat is already reduced from an OC, using a bulkhead versus straps makes it even harder. I’d never block my toes in a C-1 because it’s not necessary...

I enjoy all types of boats and paddle both kayak and canoe style. I’ve spent most of my boating river running in a C-1 over the past two decades. My experience is most limited in “little boats” and squirt, but I was paddling a short conversion over the weekend and will probably be buying one soon. I...
