Brief word of caution - beware of buying CPVC. It's a gray or dark gray PVC pipe that is used interchangeably with ABS in some applications. It won't work.

saddle height and open boat rolling

OK, second time in the pool this winter with the Switch c1 and rolling is getting smooth and easy. Very little paddle dive; even hit a ghetto offside roll. BUT: I still have a crappy, unreliable muscle roll in my Skeeter. I've spent hours working on the roll, added to the thigh bulkhead, and ...

What about a Hand Roll??? I got 9 or 10 in a row bare handed. now that is a strange roll. it relies on a solid hipsnap and and upperbody movement and has nothing to do with bracing whatso ever... I'll try to get Video of it soon. This would be great!! My question is what the "upper body movement" i...

its my understanding that to apply the solution to the hull I need to sand off the vinyl to expose the "green" hull, but not the foam core....correct? You got it! The vinyl is fairly resistant to binding with the ABS, but the goop will attack and "weld" to either the solid ABS layer or the foam lay...

please tell me i read that wrong....you want to paint the bottom of your boat? I know mere mortals don't care about the bottoms of their boats, but I need to make it look good for the camera when my better half and I throw OC-2 enders in Big Nasty. Plus, I'm pale enough to know a thing or two about...

paint for ABS?

I recently replaced most of the outer ABS layer of the center 4' of the bottom of my Probe 14, using the ABS pipe/acetone method. I'm VERY pleased with the results structurally, but even if UV light wasn't a concern, something would need to be done about the aesthetics of the huge patch. It looks as...

break-away hip pads

A couple of weeks ago I put hip pads in my Skeeter. My model was an Esquif rodeo boat (Eli's, saw it at Gauleyfest) where foam blocks were simply glued to the foam that filled out the tumblehome. My problem is with my long legs and skinny arse, I couldn't come up with an arrangement that would both ...

incredible!

I've been hemming and hawing about how to fix a badly delaminating Probe 14 . . . this sounds great. If bubbles have formed in the outer layer of ABS, but not cracked open, yet, do you then remove the delaminated sections and pour the glorious goo directly onto the foam core? (It seems like the acet...

foam "skin" etc.

Scott, I recently re-outfitted my Skeeter with foam from Sweet composites. Jennifer suggested the L-200. It seems to be plenty stiff enough for my application. A half bun ought to be enough for a full-length saddle and thigh hooks. If it's a wider boat and you're filling in the tumblehome, you may w...

good

Glad it found a home! Again, sorry to back out, Ray. There will sadly be more daydreaming about boating than there will be boating in my immediate future.

Safety Nazi here: This hits the nail on the head. Probably the correct answer is this though....you're going down a rocky river, hit something and you are swimming...your throw rope gets hung in a crack between rocks and you are attached....not a good situation. I'm sure there is some exception some...

I believe that the OC rule for racing is that only 25 percent of each of the ends of the boat can be covered, thus this boat is illegal for racing. and I forgot the meaningful part of this post... hmm. Prost -isaac For rodeo, it once was that no more than 22.5% of the length could be decked on eith...

I'm in the northern VA area . . . any chance that you or a friend could get the boat to Gauleyfest this weekend?

I'm currently re-outfitting my Skeeter, which is in pretty decent shape, but I'm not sure I can part with it . . . how much money are you thinking for the package?

http://www.adventuresports.com/kayaks/soar/accessories.htm I have no experience with this product but have been meaning to try one. As I understand it, it's a sub-2lb, 60" wood/fiberglass paddle for $72+shipping. It's meant for use with backpacking-style inflatables, but I'm surprised I haven't see...
