Here is a pic of me boofing the prelude off the falls on the Cheoah. This is a good example of a canoe boof off nothing but a spout of water. There is no rock or lip. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=221470622785&set=t.775117785&type=1&theater Someone else please post this pic directly in this...

Thompson River NC Canoe Descent
We were fortunate enough to get 5" of rain last Friday and catch the Thompson River in NC. It is one of the most epic runs in the East. It has massive slides, cascades and portages and runs into Lake Jocassee. It was one of the best rivers I've ever paddled. It's very scenic and very high quality. J...

The quake was designed for rodeo but it wasn't a good rodeo boat. It was too hard to get the bow down and initiate ends to score points. It turned out to be a good creek boat that people liked but the mold broke and they never replaced it. Its real claim to fame is that it is that it is basically un...

When I'm on steep creeks speed is less important and that's why the L'Edge is my favorite boat for steep creeking. I actually like having a boat with a lot of hull speed when I'm river running (I think it's fun to do attainment moves, tough ferries, etc. that require speed) so I usually paddle my sp...

Media Coverage for Open Boating (ALF article and photos)
Check out Canoe and Kayak's website. There's an article about ALF up right now and a link to a gallery with photos Colin took. They also did a quick interview with me on canoe movie 2. It's cool to see the whitewater canoeing gaining momentum and getting more exposure in mainstream publications like...

Thanks for posting the Thompson link. Also, that was a great off-side hand boof buy the C-1 paddler on Gravity on Overflow Creek in that last video. I had my most epic hand paddling move ever yesterday on the Horsepasture River. The last big class V is a really, really, really long slide called High...

Scott McCleskey Thompson River Video
Does anyone have the link to the video of Scott McCleskey and another C-1 paddler running the Thompson River in the Lake Jocassee drainage in NC? I remember watching it on-line a year or two ago and I can't find it. Thanks.

This is the lower section and the level was 1.3 ft on the physical gage at the picnic area. The gage changed recently after a flood and that is really a good minimum level. 1.5 or 1.6 would be perfect for a canoe and 1.8 would be too high. The window on that run is really small for a canoe because a...

Mine has held up great so far (knock on wood). I've had mine since August and I've really paddled it hard. In the last two or three weeks alone I've run Thunderhead Prong, Tremont, Laurel Fork of the Doe, the West Prong, Tellico, Triple Falls, Cheoah and the Little River Canyon Suicide Section at lo...

Canoe Movie 2 Trailer #2 is up
John just posted the second trailer. He showed it last night at the LVM Premiere in Asheville. There were 100+ kayakers in attendance and there was a lot of cheering during the trailer. It was cool to see kayakers getting fired up about canoe footage. (hopefully they weren't just fired up because of...
