Re: Astral Footwear?
I've got three trips in my Loyaks now and i'm still pleased. No immediate failures or wear.
Pros - not much sole; toes are sand free; stylish (wife and daughter commented:-)
Cons - not much sole (but that didn't stop me from leaving them on and taking on some yard work)

Re: Need some tips for basic royalex and vinyl anchor repair
1. sand down to vinyl or glue the anchor down in a new spot - you can usually stand for it to be a few inches fore or aft of the old location. 2. I have not had luck with just GFlex - it tends to just pop off for me. Use GFlex with cloth. Surface prep is important. I've been using a wire brush cup a...

Re: Astral Footwear?
Picked up a pair of Loyaks - good so far, like the construction and material. Comfortable in the c-1. Next up - open boat foot pegs and long term durability...

SOLD : Big Dog Force OC-1 - new price
Nearly new Big Dog Force OC-1. In bubble wrap when I got it and now only 3-4 runs on the Saluda in Columbia. Added extra airbags, pulled out tanks (available if you want them), added foot pegs and thigh straps, added foam at knees, cut decks. $800. In Columbia, SC, but travel to western NC occasiona...

Re: Esquif/Mike Yee Outfitting
The Zephyr I have was an early NOC demo and almost all of the anchors came out(2 each for air bags plus two lower thigh strap anchors) . These were kevlar (I think, been a long time) patches with loops that appeared to be epoxied in - the epoxy didn't flex when the boat did and they popped. The uppe...

Re: How do you brace your feet
I think with the C-1, part is outfitting, the other part is you. You can make the boat as comfy as possible with properly placed foam (neoprene foam is nice and resilient), properly shaped saddle of the right height, wide straps, etc But it really helps if you can attain the flexibility to have your...

Re: How do you brace your feet
+1 on no pegs. Usually there isn't near as much room in a C-1. you almost certainly wouldn't have room for toes down/heel up position. Toes under pegs are a bad idea (I tried -the boat flexed, thought I'd lose a toe). Plus... I never found I needed them. I'd suggest at most a small foam block, nothi...

Re: Yellow Blue Hole Sunburst
I've got an OCA on the trailer with vinyl gunwales - it's got decks to fit so I'm pretty sure they are original. Serial number indicates 1986.

Re: Denver this weekend?
I hooked up with http://www.goldenriversports.net/ws/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - they (unsurprisingly) don't have any C-boats, but they do have a C-boater on staff - Dennis. I took out a Pyranha Fusion on the whitewater park there in Golden. Yes, it was a kayak, but it was an o...

Re: AC/DC review
Yep, but the thwart is right at the center which would make that crowded (not a problem with the free standing pedestal). I'm tempted to cut a wide kneeling thwart with a carry yoke profile on the back edge. A then hang/clamp it temporarily to see how it carries and paddles. If say, 6" back of cente...

Re: AC/DC review
I have and I really like it, however, I need some more time (and some help) to nail down the outfitting. My main puzzle right now is where to hang a kneeling thwart or seat or yoke/seat combo. I'm going to pull the yoke out and play with sitting closer to the middle and get someone to take pictures ...
