I bought this full-cut River Elf three years ago, before my knee injury. It's epoxy/fiber glass, beautifully made, only 34 pounds fully outfitted, with straps and toe blocks that will fit larger people without modification. I'm old enough to remember painters on canoes & kayaks

Rafts, too! They can be useful, but they have to be stowed right. I almost never see painters in use by whitewater paddlers.
