Re: Helmet time

Full face vs open? Would there be any concerns for cross stroke and hitting the face guard? I just started using a WRSI Moment. It's my first full face helmet. The face guard doesn't bother me at all. It didn't affect my cross strokes or rolling. I tend to forget it's there (which looks pretty sill...

Re: Recall of WSRI helmets: Trident and Moment

I just bought a Moment helmet. Is there a way to tell whether it's from the bad batch?

Re: Learning to roll an OC1--tips please

At the point in the roll that is captured by the photo, where is your paddle? Performing a low brace? It's a sloppy low brace roll. I didn't manage to get my paddle to the surface, but the roll worked because of throwing my head down. If you want to work on roll skills -- without getting underwater...

I try to slam my head to the river bottom.
Well said. Here is a frame from one of Milkman's videos. (I'm on the way up).

Re: Boat of the Week - Dagger Cascade

A few weeks ago I borrowed a friend's Cascade to race with in a local creeking competition (just for fun). I have really enjoyed getting to know this boat. It takes a few strokes to get momentum, and sometimes you have to work darn hard to turn it. But I love the speed. It's great to ferry, and it's...

Re: The Drysuit Evolved - SwimLeft

I love the name. The gasket idea is great. I would be apprehensive about buying a two-piece drysuit. It seems harder to put on. And the seal between top and bottom is a concern. I'm really curious how they would attach. The advantages of a two-piece drysuit would not really apply to me. For example,...

Nice! I'm a covert fan. (Seriously, check out his videos on Vimeo). So does this mean that whitewater canoeing is fashionable again? Or just beaver hats?.

Re: Rolling in holes and other crappy stuff

There are a couple pool exercises which have been helpful to me. 1) Practice slow rolling. Let yourself hang out upside down for a while. Move your torso around in all sorts of random directions. (For example, I like to lean all the way back and touch stern airbag with back of my helmet). Then get b...
