Re: Gulf Hagas video
Kind of interesting reading that 1992 AW article Craig. Right off the bat high water run at the time was about 9" lower than I've run it taking it at face value. I got a bit anxious reading their descriptions.

Re: Gulf Hagas video
it is the single rapid I can think of ever in my paddle career where you can't scout, can't walk, can't back out, REALLY shouldn't swim, just one way in and one way out...and I have a very high tolerance for climbing out as a 5.8 trad wall lead climber. It is a solo rapid. You are not getting any he...

Re: Gulf Hagas video
I've run it in my kayak last about 3 years ago. It is the singular one river that I've run in the east that you have to run a rapid and portaging is impossible. You work your way into a gorge that has 100 ft cliffs on each side. If you do climb up 70ft risking your life there seems to be a band of f...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
since it sounds like you are easy on canoes anything you do to the chine to prevent wide open tearing of the crack will be enough to get a good solid year out of your Nitro (even for a bit of an abuser).... a little glass and or just gorilla tape will go a long way. The abs is UV sensitive so cover ...

Re: Question for Option owners
I use an Aqua-Bound Edge paddle with a fairly squared off corner. It amazed me that using the Original low deck option that the corner of my blade would catch and pocket into that small but serviceable handle loop. It wouldn't catch for good but if it thunked on that during a pressure move navigatin...

Re: Nitro Repair, opinions please
this reply is balanced with do whatever you need to do to paddle this year, but I would look at this nitro in two ways. How long do you need to get out of it and How long till you have about $1000 to buy a good used canoe or even new. When I rebuilt Tommy's Creek and Destroy canoe I wanted to get a ...

Re: March 9 before official ALF
I don't believe the tohickon release is on that 2nd alf weekend, but it could be running naturally. if it is running people will be there on the weekend. You might want to tune in to see if you get lucky with a run on the lower Shahola (near milford, Pa) or the Brodhead (near stroudsburg, Pa) The Pa...

Re: outfitting my Option
get some 1/2 inch foam and line the inner thigh....just tape it in there and see if you can tighten up the thigh hole. I'd do that first and see what works...maybe just put on some ski layers as well to take up room or a drysuit. See about tightening up in the thigh hooks one way or another. drive t...
