Thanks both Martyn and Martin. MEC can order them in, for +$1800!
I'm going to keep trying to find a used one, ya never know. I also said I wasn't going to get married again.

Spanish Fly
Thanks for the insight on the Spanish Fly. Now the trick will be to find one.
See you on the rivers.

Taureau vs Spanish Fly
I currently paddle a Nitro. Looking for a smaller boat for park n play/rodeo moves with my kayak buddies. I've tried a CU Fly but found I was too heavy for the boat. Am interested in the Taureau, but the ends look to have pretty large volumes. Would a Spanish Fly be better suited for this purpose. B...

What I learned this year
I've taken a Bob Foote course each summer for the past 3 years. It improves your paddling exponentially. I paddle mainly with yakers, and am now able to get on and surf some waves they can't. Every time I think about buying a new/smaller boat to improve performance, Bob has provided some correction ...

Re: OC-1 roll
Take a look at Bob Foote's web site. He has an excellent article on rolling an OC-1. Just follow the steps - exactly - and the boat will come up no problem. I paddle a Nitro, with Mike Yee outfitting. Water build-up around the saddle has never been an issue. Try getting the roll right before butcher...

Bilge Pumps: OC-1
Question about batteries for the bilge pump - Atwood 1250 GPH. I've got a 12 V, 5 Amp battery, and it seems to work too slowly. I was thinking about upping the voltage to 14.4 V's using a rechargeable battery from a cordless drill. Does anyone have an idea if this will work, or if there's a better s...

Bilge Pumps: OC-1
You got the pump right; Atwood 1250 GPH. Where did you find the waterproof toggle switch? I had to make one with an unsealed switch and rubber boot - mounted it into a 2" PVC pipe with end caps, as opposed to a dry box. It's connected to the battery/dry-box with a length of low voltage outdoor light...

Bilge Pumps: OC-1
I just built one for this year. Cost +/- $100 (CDN). Got most parts from Canadian Tire. Empties my Nitro in about 20-30 seconds. Would never be without one now.

Bilge Pump
Thanks Martin,
I was looking at the CT option last weekend.
They now only carry an 1100 GPH pump, may go to a marine store.
Regarding the battery; don't the lead acid batteries weigh a fair bit ? I was trying to source a lithium ion battery.

Bilge pump
I'm looking to either build (preferable) or buy a bilge pump system for my Nitro. Can anyone provide an insight to the best set-up or system to get? Your input will be greatly appreciated. By the way, thanks to the "board" for advise on the ABS repairs for the chines, it worked well, and the price w...

What do you mean "its winter"; you can barely see your breath, and the Gorge is still running.
Would like to place an order, please advise as to where, when, and how much.

Painters
Having painters on my boat saved my life this spring. We were running the Elora Gorge at 98 cms, twice what our previous max level. Got dumped and stuck in an "eddy of doom" which fed back into a terminal hole. The eddy was formed by a smooth 60 foot high limestone cliff with huge ice falls running ...
