Re: Caption vs Vertige-X

Have never paddled a Vertige but have owned a Mad River Caption for about 5 years and love it. Have tripped in it, paddled it tandem and solo, and much prefer paddling it to my LEdge. Bought the Caption and LEdge both new from the same dealer and the MR boat was definitely easier to bring in than an...

Alberta Canada Esquif L'Edge

Barely used Esquif L'Edge solo whitewater canoe. Open-wood gunnel version. It was paddled a few day trips on CII/CIII rivers and other than that has been hanging in the rafters of my garage for most of its life. Asking $1500. Boat is in Edmonton area. May be able to assist with local delivery, but n...

Re: Esquif L'Edge in Edmonton Alberta

Kind of stopped advertising this over the winter, but still have it for sale at same price. Winter is fast coming to a close and local rivers will soon be flowing again. It may be time for you to start thinking of buying another WW solo canoe. If you live in western Canada, this barely used L'Edge m...

Re: Removeable Saddle

This topic was previously discussed in: https://cboats.net/cforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7963943 I did use a similar setup when I bought my Caption about 5-6 yrs ago. Has worked great and allowed the boat to be quickly setup for tandem or solo paddling. Here is a picture shortly after it was outfitted,...

Re: Dry Top and Pants vs. Dry Suit

I have a two piece dry top / dry pants combo. My dry pants have the fitted socks. When you swim, the seam leaks between the dry top and pants. Not too much, but enough to be wet and cold. Plus you have no way of getting the water out of your pants without taking them off. At least with the latex gas...

Re: What is a broken boat worth?

Bought an Evergreen Starburst a couple years back (new) and outfitted it with airbags, end cages, thigh straps, and foam knee pads for whitewater tripping. With outfitting, the canoe probably cost close to $2200. Very first day we ever had it in the water my 14 and 16 yr old sons wrapped it around a...

Re: Would you ever...

Bought all three of my current canoes without having paddled any of them:

Evergreen Starburst
Mad River Caption
Esquif L'Edge

Of these three, the L'Edge has been most challenging for me as I had never paddled a short solo ww canoe prior to that purchase.

Re: Caption outfitting - center bag size?

In my Caption, I don't use a centre airbag. However, I will often tie a dry bag or two between the front and rear paddlers, or alternatively, even a 60L barrel or a cooler. It is all floatation, and you never know when a cool one will be needed.

Re: Multi Purpose Tandem / Quick Release Center Bag

Or if wanting real quick and easy to swap... http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb309/philcanoe/cboats/webnetting-1.jpg ...and can sew? You might make a net from webbing. Use eight grommets and you could hook six at gunwale level, leaving two end ones to go to d-rings on bottom. ((Not that I've eve...
