I have a couple a pics - they won't be the end all guide for self repair but can help illustrate the process. I can email them if you want. You can do lots of research on line about working with twntex - google it and dig around - hint - look to the manufacturer for info. I believe you got the answe...

nope

no plug needed, the heat is applied gently, timed and watched over. Both sides are done at once so pressure comes from both sides evenly. Pretty slick. Of course if you overheated or went too long you could end up with a puddle of plastic and a fiber matrix filled with air. If you wanted to try this...

As I was witness to a repair yesterday I will tell you that the official fix is not a simple thing. In short a new piece of the twintex material is attached to each side of the hull, vacuum bagged, and heated to melting. Thus repairs re-bond the original hull, and re-enforce the hull on both sides w...

The NRS ATB provides a decent sole and a rubber cover over neoprene for your toes. The ATB and the NRS workboot are the only shoes which provide enough protection that I no longer wrap my toeknuckles (is that a word?) in tape to keep the skin on when I go boating. The ATB is much easier on and off -...

Racks

I just took a look at the racks in my basement. One has horizontal distance between bars - 71 inches. vertical space for each level 18 1/2 inches. I use this rack for boats from the size of a Probe/Shaman to Caption, Scamp and Vertige X sized. The other rack has 50 inches horizontal between bars, ve...

Go sit in your boat

Spend some time in the boat - in dry land. Just sit there for a while, feel where it digs in and make adjustments, add foam here remove foam there. Experiment. I spend a good bit of time sitting and reading in a new boat, feeling the outfitting and making small adjustments to get it comfy. One thing...

What Scott said

Don't worry about getting it too clean - But do put two coats on the foam as lots of the first coat will soak in.

Parrot head is right on

While what he says seems long and complex, once you get it, it becomes an automatic reflex and you no longer think much about it.

Practice is key - those boring flatwater drills will help alot!

Vynabond on ABS

I would say its an urban myth that VB will ruin ABS. I've glued vinyl patches direct to ABS where the old vinyl layer had come off with no ill effects. Also used it to glue drings to pelican boxes - (ABS) and to glue to Bilge pump housings, also ABS.
