OC Cross Forward
To perform an OC Cross Forward stroke, your arms are straight to get the paddle verticle and you bend forward for the plant and then straighten up to 'scoot' the boat forward. Keep the stroke short (ending at the knees) and slice the paddle forward thru the water to the next catch. True? Where are y...

Outrage X Tandem
At the Gull Slalom this wekend there was an ORX outfitted for tandem use. It worked well if both paddlers were light. Fast and responsive. VERY wet with two big guys.

Yup
I don't have a good answer, but if I get upside down and get water anywhere near my nose all the muscles of my sinuses tighten up and I get an instant headache. No thought of hanging around upside down and rolling. I wear nose plugs most of the time now. It has the unfortunate side effect of turning...

Slalom - why I do it when I can
Last year I paddled a lot at the Gull in Minden and thought I was doing pretty good. Then they hung gates and it wasn't enough to hit the eddy, someone wanted me to hit it right HERE and then go through THERE! Wow. Not so easy. There are only two OC slalom races in ON, but both are worth trying. One...

Two river days?
Would it be possible to put together two river days? Perhaps the same river twice? It's almost a full day of driving to get there. I feel bad when I spend more time in the car than on the water.

Hudson Armada this fall?
I heard a rumour that there might be an Armada on the Hudson this fall. Any truth to it?

Kind of like a Phantom with edges. They have played with the dimensions over the years. The first one I paddled was very narrow and tippy - didn't like it. The last was wider and asymetrical with a low saddle. Would be a fine replacement for my Phantom. Low primary, higher secondary stability. Will ...

Or try Mike Himself
He lives between Stouffville and Uxbridge and usually has glue in stock. Or Brian Shields - he is about 35 minutes north of Mike.

ABS for Royalex Repair
I have heard of making a 'paint' using black ABS plumbing pipe and acetone to put a protective coating on worn Royalex.
Does ABS plastic come in any other colours other than black?

WOW!
I got the book in the mail first and read it, and it was interestiing and there were some things that I learned, but then the DVD finally came in the mail and now I understand about steering from the bow and boat lean and why my boat does what it does, and now I have the start of a proper forward st...

I would much rather have ads than lose this forum. Esp if the ads allow growth in content like you indicated above. Paddlers are a really cheap bunch. I doubt that donations (like freeware - eg. Spybot) would work, but it's a thought. How much money annually are we talking about here? Both to run th...

Ash Tripping
Good tripping river. Great campsites, some long sets with lots of options (CII/III lines around CIV stuff). The Chutes Chaudier (Kettle falls) is a great place to stay over and just explore (1.5 km portage NOT RUNNABLE) - great blue berries in season. It is in a Nature Reserve and so costs a little ...
