Re: Ambitious tandem for a light team

We moved from a Nexus to a Blast and rarely paddle the Nexus now. The Blast is slower than the Nexus (read Caption as well) but turns on a dime and has amasing secondary stability. We weigh ~310 pounds. Because of the rocker (lots) the Blast paddles dry, and if my partner looks at a drop and decides...

Dagger Quake Questions

I just started paddling a Quake this spring (from an Ocoee), and the more I paddle it, the more I like it. Put a piece of plastic up front to act as a wave deflector and that's working well, and installed a bilge pump. I have been moving the seat back, and the further back I get it, the better the b...

Pump Options

I have both. If I think I'll need to get water out of the boat in places where I need to keep my hands on the paddle I use my electric system (Atwood 1200 & two 7.2v RC car batteries in a pelican case), BUT the system adds significant weight to my solo boat. I can notice it. Otherwise I stuff a hand...

What and where is the LY? What kinds of boats are we talking here - Captions? What is a LF summer weekend? What kind of carnage? Two years ago at ALF there was a couple running (not too succesfully) waterfalls. Looked like fun, but my partner WOULD NOT be amused. (and I would be sleeping outside for...

Course

It really was a Spark course. With all the rain we've had, the flow was about 50% higher than usual for this time of year, and the Dam guys increased it to that level just as they were starting to set the course at noon on Tuesday. Plan 'B'. The flow was fast and pushy. Most moves were full power an...

Mine was inside elbow - shaft hand

Mine was because of a death grip on the paddle shaft. Had to learn to loosen my grip there. Practiced paddling with only three fingers holding on, esp on a cross-fwd stroke when the combination of grip and sideways pressure on the joint can be too much for the little tendon that takes all the pressu...
