Check around the Golden area locally...that's where all 5 of the Colorado canoeists live. Jeff Oxenford would be a good guy for you to get hold of...email me and I will send you his email.

Superfly -- hard edged, planing disk, highly rockered, slow, this boat was designed by Mark Scriver and Frankie Hubbard for the 99 world rodeo championships which it won with Eli Helbert. Creeks OK, plays holes like a champ, can be a hoot on a big green wave.. but unless it's a steal I'd recommend t...

..since I and others in the past have posted info on the Prelude til we where blue in the fingers I won't add any more but will remind you of one missed point. Which boat will outlast the other, and how will you use it? If you aren't into buying a new boat every year or two the choice should be obvi...

Heres a few recommendations. I am VERY abusive on paddles and have found that Clinch River Paddles are incredibly durable. Bailey makes them in a curved face and if you ask him he can lay up the blades a little beffier if necessary. (Note-- don't even consider a paddle without a aluminum inlayed tip...

Half the blade...half the ego!

Two blades don't make a right!

(For OC'ers) My psychologist talked me out of wearing skirts ...or... "so your not Scottish?"

(For C-boats) It's "just" like a kayak...except harder!

Boat length arguments are often like the chicken and the egg controversies. Here's my 2cents. Paddle a boat you feel comfortable in and stick with it for the first few years. One thing I've noticed with newcomers that kayak is the fact that they start in shorter boats and learn to play holes and wav...

I'm a poor teacher, but one thing I've noticed is an unwillingness to hang out upside down in the boat, and the patience to keep one's head and torso tucked until completely upright from the beginning of the roll. Practice by flipping to your offside. Very seldom do Cboaters fall over on their onsid...

...other boats to consider.

Mad River Outrage & Dagger Rival. You should be able to find these boats used and at a reasonable price. Far better boats imho than the slowvation. You should be able to use them longer through your learning curve.

Paddle Preferences

It's cold as h$#@ here and we don't have snow to play in and all our rivers are frozen shut so I've been messing around here after work. I see there is a poll option and thought let's try it!?? What type of paddle do you use? What type of shaft do you prefer? why? What type of blade do you prefer? w...
