I like to blame every swim on my outfitting, regardless of the truth behind the matter.

Actualy, I never move at all in my C-1. my straps run almost perfectly perpendicular to my thighs and keep me really well pinned in.

There were as many C-1Ws at nationals as there were K-1Ws, an excellent sign, in my opinion.

I have an old stohlquist drysuit that I never, ever use anymore, and would be willing to part with it for very little. The suit is fairly old (not sure exactly HOW old, but it is nylon, not goretex) but the gaskets were all replaced two or three seasons ago by stohlquist. Since then it has seen mini...

Okay, so here's the deal; Alden and I raced C-2 in an old, but decent, boat of Dave Kurtz's. Due the varying size and skill of the paddlers that use the boat, it is extremely loosely and minimally outfitted. A square block of minicell for a saddle and low thighstraps. That's it. No hip contact and n...

Oopsiflipped, What you said about having paddled correctly in the beginning of your session then deteriorating sounds correct. Paddling with really efficient technique and strong strokes will wear you out quickly when you first make the switch to that style. The strokes are tapping into different mu...

In order to get the extension for strokes that lock into your stronger abdominal muscles you need torso rotation as well. There are a few tricks to achieving the muscle memory you need in order to perform effective and efficient strokes in whitewater. 1) Try paddling on your onside in flatwater with...

What Mikey B wrote is the same information I have repeatedly heard and seen. The vinyl gunwales constrict the shape of the royalex and keep the bow/stern tips much more narrow than intended. I believe that the Outrage was designed so that the gunwales would incorporate that flare, and therefore stay...

Hey Jim, I hope to see you out paddling it sometime soon. I'd like to try the boat out. You'll have to bring it to the Tohickon release in November.
