Spence the OCA is 16'. It will handle class 2 ww even loaded. It was the do it all boat for years, has a long flat bottom so is susceptable to winds.
There is a lot of people with tripping experience who will be able to tell you more.

Alabama
Early in the year there are slalam races on the Locust Fork and Mulberry fork as well as NAWfest. TSRA out of Nashville has their whitewater Rendevous in April on the plateau. It is a 4 day event. Color
I try for bright colors,for visibility etc. Since when I'm in the boat I can't see to much of the outside hull it doesn't make a lot of difference. Get air bags in your favorite color and relax.
