Not sure any more how much I put in, not a lot, maybe about 1/2 cup.
It worked really well, I repaired the bags about 4 years ago and they still hold air like they did on the first day.

Re: Repairing Canoe Floatation bags
I have successfully used Toobseal to seal off several air bags with a bunch of pin holes. Open the dump valve, pour some Toobseal in the bag, close the dump valve, inflate the bag and then start spinning the air bag in all directions for about 15-20 minutes. Now my bags hold air for days again.

Re: Suggestions on solo whitewater playboat for heavy guy
I second the Octane 91 as a great playboat for a bigger guy. That boat can handle signifcantly more than 250 lbs. Other choices that are rout there in plastic are the L'Edge, although 250 lbs is near the upper limit for iert. Other, longer and thus faster chocices that I have however never paddled p...

Re: C1 conversion bulkhead questions
Mike W has a point, the high back rest is definitely needed, but it was in my experience not enough. The back rest in the Finkenmeister is a good 7 to 8 inches above the saddle and I still fell out of the boat before adding thigh straps. A strapless system may work in mainly low volume runs, but in ...

Re: C1 conversion bulkhead questions
My experience is that a bulkhead alone without footpegs doesn't work in a C1. When I first got my Robson finkenmeister it came from the factory with a bulkhead only setup without thigh straps. I tried everything , but no matter what I modified, it was either so tight that I would have had a really h...

Re: Shortening an H2O C1 Paddle
I used H20 paddles in the mid to late 2000's, but have since moved on and got rid of the last one in around 2010, so my info is quite old.

Re: Shortening an H2O C1 Paddle
Not sure how relevant my info still is, but back in the day when I used H20 paddles they used hot glue to bond both the T-Grip and the blade to the paddle. If they still do, then all you need is a hair dryer or a hot air gun and some patience. If the T-Grip is really epoxied in now you could remove ...

Re: foot pegs - or no pegs?
No foot pegs for me, can't stand them. Ripped them out of my OC1's, raised the back of the saddle until it is at the small of my back and use some high sitting thigh straps with quick release cam buckles, as I do in my C1's. More comfortable for me, more control and more secure fit, too. only drawba...

Re: Boat for Grand Canyon
Good to hear that you had a great trip, PaddlePower. Friendly Big Water it is, at least for me, but then again, I am used to run the Ottawa in the Spring. Someone who's more used to low volume creeking might see this differently. Hermit is the only rapid so far where I got a 14fter just about comple...

Re: East Coast Scale?
My experience from when I was out west for 2 years is that there is not only a difference between East and West, but also on withing the same region. BC seems to rate the same difficulty between 1/2 and one grade lower than Washington. Also types of water seem to factor in. Up in Eastern Canada, whe...

Re: Boat for Grand Canyon
As far as I know your options for rentals are, as Cheeks mentioned, really only down to either the Whitesell Piranha (14ft-er) with a Perception plastic saddle and Jim Michaud's Outrage. As far as I know both the boat at Ceiba as well as the one at Moenkopi are Whitesell Piranha's. I paddled Jim Mic...
