Connecticut (Farmington, Housatonic, etc) paddling Sunday?

Post by d_rat »

My wife and I are going to be in Connecticut this weekend (niece's 5th birthday), and not being ones to to pass up a on good opportunity, we're bringing the canoe along. If the water levels hold, we're hoping to paddle on Sunday - perhaps a section of the Farmington (Riverton to Satan's kingdom or Crystal Rapids sections). We're leaving North Central Connecticut in the morning and returning to New Paltz, NY in the evening, so the Farmington, Housatonic, or something else that I don't know would all work).

Not knowing the area and having never paddled any of the rivers, we'd prefer to have some company. We're comfortable on class II, willing to push to III- if we're with someone who's competent.

Anyone have a plan and interested in some company?

Post on the Northeast Paddler's Message Board (npmb.com) and you're bound to get some responses.

It looks like Crystal levels are finally getting pretty low, but there's more rain predicted, so who knows.

Thanks - I have posted there as well, and am trying to guage what kind of response I get from both boards. To date, I've only ever paddled with friends and friends of friends, but I'm trying to expand my paddling community and am testing out the best way to do so.
