Well I think this is an example of how as a community we can not decide on what "state of the art" outfitting would be. To start half 1/3 of us use straps, 1/3 bulked, 1/3 straps and bulked. A portion of the people feel loose out fitting is the way to go so one can swim easier, followed by a group who swear tight is the way to got so you don't get ripped out of the boat and a select few feel they will never swim so why not ratchet strap themselves into the boat. There is no one out fitting that we could ever get a majority or us to think it is a good thing much less please everyone. We always end up custom out fitting our boats anyway to meet our personal demands and limits as boaters.
I think it’s great a major manufacturer has even tried mass producing something. And why would Jackson build something that would easily fit in every other kayak? Selling boats and out fitting is still a business last time I checked. Most kayak seats don't interchange between manufactures, so why would a c-boat pedestal interchange?
The Dagger pedestal may have been the best thing since slice bread but we as a group were not big enough to keep the attention of neither Dagger, nor any company for that matter until recently with Jackson, making an out fitting for their boat.
I'm not saying the Jackson pedestal will make us all class V boaters but it is a great start to finally have the acknowledgment of a premier company again.

wow, that's an awsome price... per pound
maybe that's shipping weight
because it's twice the weight of dagger and others.

The weights are all goofy. One item in black is 0.75 lb. the same item in silver is 5.00 lb. Doesn't mean anything.
