I have a 1990 model that I got from Robert Harrison in 91. He said he got it as pay for photos. It is in very good condition for a 20 year old boat and has always been stored indoors. It is outfitted with a Team Edge triple saddles and gets used maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
Mrs Kanur and I are thinking of getting something different if for no other reason just for the sake of change. If it has any value at all we will try to sell it. If not we'll just keep getting it out a couple times a year.

The value of the boat will have more to do with willing buyers in your area than with the boat itself.
Decide what it might be worth to you to sell, and see if anyone in your area is looking, simple as that - it doesn't matter what people say it might be worth unless there's someone there willing to buy it.
Selling it may help get other paddlers on the rivers more often, compared to keeping an extra boat yourslef, so perhaps that's something to consider too.
Good luck, I hope you sell the ME to some happy new owners and get enough cash to make it worth your while!
Pat.

Pat makes a great point for all of us with fleets of boats. The first of the year is a good time to take inventory and clear out boats you don't paddle that might get someone else into the sport. One of the hardest thing for new open boaters to find is boats to buy. I also make a point of keeping a few beaters around to lend people and try to get them into the sport.Selling it may help get other paddlers on the rivers more often, compared to keeping an extra boat yourslef, so perhaps that's something to consider too.
I think how much you could get for the ME also depends on outfitting and whether you're selling it with air bags. A fully equipped ME in good condition could fetch $500 provided someone is looking for a bomber solo tripping canoe. One key selling point is that they're not making them any more.
Thanks Guys, I know something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. While the ME is a classic it doesn't mean a lot of people want to buy one.
This one is probably in as good a shape as they come and I'm sure it will be able to find a good home. After almost 20 years we just want to try something different.

Value of Mad River ME
Boat looks beautiful - And just because it was formerly owned by Mayonaise Brains (Bobby Hair) ought to make it worth at least $100 more. Never seen one of his boats in such good condition when he got through with it. Last one of his I had was a canoe couch in my living room for 10 years,(1970's to 1980's, but it was only 1/2 of a green royalex Old Town canoe, I think after having gone over Big Bend Falls on section Zero on the Chattooga.
Please say HEY to Robert if you see him. Thought - you might offer to sell it back to him. Or post a notice to John Cadell out in California. He might need something to train the next Gen Cadell in!

I'd be interested in it but I have a Howler now, until I sell it. Bow partner says she isn't interested in that type paddleing, so keeping my Endurall and the Northwoods.
Also - you might post it on the Arkansas Canoe Club website. More interest of late in retro tandems and they do move a lot of boats over here.
