T-Formex, the next generation of ABS

Post by Eli »

Royalex, like canoeing, will evolve, not die!

I can't seem to upload the image of Esquif's Press Release, but they announced today that they will be producing T-Formex, the next generation of Royalex, available for distribution in early 2015.

Hopefully we will have prototypes on the water near you this summer!

I very much admire that company. And if it weren't for my fear that my wife might kill me, I would buy and try almost everything they produce.

In theory this is the press release Eli mentioned:

Hopefully they won't mind the link!

Nice. I wonder whether Esquif will sell the material to other manufacturers.

Sounds like a huge plus for the whole paddling community!

Any info out there about T-Formex's properties?

The Esquif Taureau is currently made from something called "T-form Elite." Is this material somehow related? They both contain ''T-form"...

I read that it will allow manufactures to continue to use the royalex molds and uses the same abs core but has a new proprietary outer layer. While I have no doubts that coming from Esquif it will be of high quality, hopefully they can keep it in the same price range as royalex.

I just think it's great news that a canoe manufacturer will be in control of supply. It was in PolyOne's best interest to close a small product line. It will likely be in Esquif's best interest to grow their market.
