Scouted some falls today...

Post by Dave.E »

I spent an hour scouting this guy today. Looks like a clean 30 footer. I found evidence of some kayakers running it for the first time last year.

It's called Upper Balls Falls... In Ontario. Does anyone know of any open boaters running it?

Thoughts? :)

I guess we're the only ones kicking around this forum rather than paddling at ALF...

Any idea how long Upper Balls Falls (great name) runs? That looks like a heck of a cold and painful nasal enema waiting to happen...

Haha seems like it! Maybe next year.

No idea about the levels... I just had a friend call me at 8 this morning wanting to scout them! I think it is a pretty short window as most of the pictures on google are pretty much dry.

I really want to go back with a boat and take a good look at it. The setup is very clean and the pool is big and friendly. Every drop I have run in the past is short and boofable though so I really have no idea what I'm doing... I've run slides that tall but nothing with a straight drop. There aren't many resources around on running drops in canoes which doesn't help.

Actually it is just north of St. Catharines, in Jordan Station (used to live near there). I haven't heard if any OC's have run it. Pretty stout drop, hopefully the landing is well aerated.

It looked aerated from where I was scouting... I'm trying to find a youtube video of someone running it for a better idea but haven't found anything.

Here is some more info on it.
